I just installed black cambrian antiqued granite and really love it. We wanted a black counter that was easier to maintain. The antique finish is great to hide fingerprints and so far seems to clean up nicely. I've noticed that it takes a bit more to clean up grease than the polished, but if you use a granite cleaner or soap it cleans up just like new. I would definitely buy it again.

i'm using nordic black antiqued granite throughout my house remodel. i just love the stuff. it will frame my backsplash behind the range, frame a carpet mosaic in my entry and is the accent tile in my sons bathroom. i will probably use it in our rental for counters...it preforms well and the finish is gorgeous!

Thanks a lot for the responses. I hadn't seen a lot on the antiqued or leathered types - they seem a little newer than the honed. I saw the antiqued black cambrian - beautiful (although won't work with my darker cabs unfortunately).

Does anyone have a close up picture of the leathered or anitiqued? This is the 1st time of heard of either and I'm having a hard time picturing a textured granite.

I don't have a photo but when I touched it there was a bit of texture to the stone. Not rough or pebbly just textured. It has a matte finish like honed stone with a bit of texture to it. That is what keeps it from showing fingerprints as much I'm guessing. I don't think this type of stone is widely accessible yet - there were only about a dozen slabs at the warehouse I went to.

Would you still be able to roll out dough on it like you can with polished? Or would the dough stick to it since it is more textured?

THAT BEING SAID...................

HOWEVER:

I think that the "Leathered/Venezian/Antiqued" or

is attractive to consumers because it's DIFFERENT
than plain old polished Granite - not that there is
ANYTHING wrong with polished Granite, but come on...?

We (as consumers) have been SOOOO used to Polished Granite, and then.............
somebody comes along with HONED... and it's like.....WOW!!!! OMG!!!

There's a whole new spectrum here on Earth...!!!!!

but wait......

AND THEN..... somebody comes along with a Leather/Antique/
Venezian "look" and it's deja vu - all over again ..... HA!!!!

The point that I am making is that we as HUMANS...
WE like new stuff... we like changing things...

(THAT'S just MY OBSERVATION.....)

The Leathered look or Antique look is WAY COOL - especially -

IF you are looking for a NEW LOOK.......

It does NOT matter to me... I am a FABRICATOR of NATURAL STONE...
SOOOOO... any way that you want it is fine with me!!!!

go with your HEART!!! IF you like the texture - leathered look... run with it!!!!!!!!!!

GCSTEVENS - What is that beautiful creamy granite that is on your bathroom countertop??? It looks like limestone - I have never seen anything like it. Does anyone else know what it might be?
