As y'all know I'm planning on going back to Puerto Villarta next spring for another workshop. Recently I bought Linda/Opie O'Brien's Metal Craft book - it was one of the books at the Hacienda where we stayed, and I was so interested in metal work. When I made the metal stockings - also inspired by a piece at the Hacienda, I was unable to use a hand riveter - hands aren't strong enough, so I sorta gave up hope of taking the Obrien's workshop coming up next spring cuz riveting is part of the technique. Today I decided to pursue an alternative tool - yep - told y'all I wasn't buying ANY MORE TOOLS. I lied - My HM and I went to Harbor Freight where I bought an air compressor and a hydraulic pneumatic riveter. I'm signing up for the metal crafting workshop SOON. Oh the love of a new tool. Tra la la la la.

Well I'm flattered you'd ask but I'm better with visual aids! ...and would surely defer to Tropic's expert advice since I can only imagine a jungle. The plants sure are in close quarters in them, from what one sees in pics. Trying to duplicate that in pots may not necessarily be a great idea, you know I'm just flying by the seat of my pants (since you're stolen my dress!) but it makes perfect sense to me, we'll see... Maybe you could add a pic of the double pot next to the Philo in question that you're considering adding to it? We've seen the double, but next to each other would leave no question about size/scale. For a stake, I'd try to find something metal (for free, repurposed, that's how I roll...) If the plants get meshed together, aerial roots attached to stake, you probably aren't going to want to mess with that to repot. (And of course you will be repotting in the future, of course the plants will do GREAT!) And BTW, you look fantastic in heels! I'd keep dressing up if I were you.

Hi Mike, nice to meet some other Okie plumie lovers! Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Somehow I just knew y'all were going to tell me to cut it into pieces. Yikes, I'm scared-lol. Should I try to make the cuts and root it now or should I do as Moonie suggests and wait until spring? I have to admit, I did go to Southwoods and buy another plumie last week. A miniature Divine this time. Didn't want to take the chance of growing another monster-lol. I've also been eyeballing a Scentsational in full bloom. It smells good enough to eat but I'm not ready to spend $80 on a plumie. I went back today just to smell it and talk myself out of it for the 3rd time. I'd love to have the name of any local nursery that sells plumies! Moonie, thanks for the advice ! I appreciate getting help from plumeria growers with more experience and know-how than I have.

Actually it was funny I was checking out when he found me. I'd told him I'd be in back of store at Home Decor section. But he took awhile in Men's Dept, and I actually went thru my section pretty fast I guess. I kept watching for him, and finally figured HE was probably up front waiting on me. So it was a (nice) surprise for him to show up when cashier was ringing me up. LOL. Syble, I have that kind of small wall space above my kitchen cabinets. That is where my brown Hare in winter plates are hung. I love plates. I have quite a few rabbit ones, lots of greyhound-whippet ones, and some horse ones. Plus the ones you saw in that curio. Tammy, I did see a teapot but it just had a tiny cardinal on the lid. So didn't look like it went with this creamer. I sure wish they'd had the sugar to match it tho. hugs, Karen

Slow, you know what they say "never say never." I was just waiting to see what would get you to break your rule. I can't wait to see your new projects that result from your NEW tools! A girl's gotta have fun!

Y'all crack me up. TMG - My late husband bought me the REAL PRO toolbelt years ago, but I find I don't use them - rather race around the garage w/my hair on fire looking for what I just laid down two minutes ago. BAMA - it's a 2 hr./20 min. flight from Dallas and only two hrs. back. We could meet in Dallas, spend the night w/my daughter the night before the flight and have a wonderful week at the Hacienda. I told my HM today if I only use it ONCE - it'll have been worth the money. He said my addiction for tools is almost as bad as the mosaic addiction. I LOVE tools.

HEE HEEEEEE! The redheaded riveter!!! Compressors are fun, you won't have to sweep the shop floor any more, use the air gun and blow out the grout dust! LOL

THis thread is only ONE of the myriad reasons I LOVE ya'll and this forum!!! Till I met ya'll and the folks at Garden Junk, I thought I was the only woman who would swoon faster over a new power tool than a dozen roses!!

ENJOY your new toys, Slowmedown!! 'course, we expect to strt seeing completed projects at warp speed instead of your usual light speed!

Yeah, I can't say anything, I've got a few tools myself. What I need to know is how do you find time for all the different projects. I want to do more I just can't find the time, course I'm slower at everything than I used to be too. LOL

I'm wanting a tile saw REAL BAD!!!! DD just got me a bird bath for MOM's Day, exclaiming, "Here MOM, mosaic this!" And I have a pedastel for my rabbit to do, I just am so bummed out that the mirror project went south and mosaiced stuff in the yard is crumbling, oh dog poo!!! Slow, did you get your cd from Kyle yet? I'm about to plug mine in and have a boo....

Curb.....I know what you're saying - loving this forum cause it helps to know you're not the ONLY one that gets so carried away with these things that we love so much! I, too, love tools. My workshop would make a lot of MEN envious.

And SLOW...., I always thought I got carried away with too many things that I wanted to do.....until getting to know you here on the forum - you far surpass ME!! HA! It's great!

Like so many people here say....so much we want to do, and not enough time to do it ALL.

Love knowing I'm not the only woman into tools. I have a killer workshop set up in my basement and always have something on my wish list! So cool to know there are other women out there with the same obsessions!!

slow...you are just too awesome for words!!!! I absolutely love the noise power tools make!! Especially when the DH changes tires with his compressor.

Enjoy your new tool and ditto on the cant wait to see the fruits of your labor!!!

I can honestly say I had no care for tools until I started mosaicing..now I drool over them like you all!!! Can say I was never much into the girlie stuff like jewelery even before mosaicing...

Slow, how awesome, you amaze me with all your cool tools. Let me know what you think of this one. My hands also can't handle a lot of hard stuff. It's too bad I keep wanting to do that stuff though. I also love tools. I got an angle grinder recently to use for cutting the metal when I make armitures. I was told it would do short work on cutting rebar too. Makes me happy,

Well it's nice to have company. Every time I awoke during the night I thought of what to make first, but the garden calls. Dividing and transplanting Day Lilies today, and already thinking I may have to enlarge the bed I just dug for them. Oh, the thrill of the dig.
