If you were so nice and so smart, then you would give a little tutorial about the details about how "more than adequate"ly you clean your dumpster finds so that other people on this forum will learn how not to get bedbugs if they should choose to continue to dumpster dive. The stories always make these more fun. lk...I got the idea of the Pam and 0000 steel wool from a friend that was in the Merchant Marine in the Vietnam era. He said they clean the ships with WD 40 and steel wool. Well I hate the WD 40 and it is bad for you to breath. So I looked around and Pam was the next best thing. You could just use cooking oil from the bottle as well. Just keep changing out the steel wool and wiping with paper towels till all the rust is gone. Then clean with a degreaser...I like Awesome from Walmart. Then rinse and dry well and voila..you have a treasure. I got the Mogul bulbs at Lowes. You can order them online but they carried them a couple years ago. They last so far I haven't had to change them and we use the lamps all the time. If there is old wiring make sure and leave it intact and use it to pull the new wiring through...a trick I read and it works great. You shouldn't have to spend $ but it may be your only option short of a piece of dynamite into the bin (which might be satisfying, but a bigger mess. I just spent $100 on a scat mat to keep the neighbors' cat from clawing my new $900 custom screen door! After I saw her do it twice and the neighbor was unconcerned with their liability (I would have had to sue them to collect damages), I just bit the bullet and did it - not fair, but saved my sanity. And, as much as I'm a die hard cat lover, I felt some deep satisfaction when she stepped on it and got a small shock - I know she won't be back. I wonder if you could sue for damages in small claims court for their nuisance and your inability to enjoy your property because of it? I would also call the health department and report that you've seen rats.

Nicole, I love those doors also. You have good taste! Schoolhouse, That dark area has been there since the bunny was the size of a smallish squirrel and showed up in the yard with it's mother in May. The mother was killed on the road soon after we first saw them together. We have become quite fond of "Bunny" and "Bunny" seems to know that we can be trusted. Right now we are a little concerned...haven't seen it since Tuesday. Have seen a fox in the yard a few times in the past couple weeks.
