You are right it is a NOID plant, meaning it has no I.D. or petigree as a variety. So you'll never find it listed anywhere. But, you may find a few close to it (maybe close to the parent plants used in the cross) But, it should never be identified as one variety, or another. Just enjoy it for what it is...different but, pretty! But, still a noid! The African Violet Society of America frowns badly on naming a plant as a variety when it's not offically I.D'ed, or registered with The AV Society of America as such. And is considered dishonest to do so. Your plant was probably one of a thousand random genetic crosses when grown from seed, and the breeder sold the rejected plants for whatever reason, but, usually becaue they saw it as genetically inferior for whatever they were looking to accomplish as a new variety. So, the breeder sold them on the open market rather than destroy the whole crop of a thousand plants. Just for the sake of one or two plants for further cross breeding. (money, money money !) So each baby plant is/was slightly different from it's siblings, yet still unstable genetically. they were they not named or registered! Which costs $$$ and time to do! Even though each plant will grow, flower, and be healthy other wise, it's just not a named variety.. I once had an AV that was a named variety at the time, that had all white, with blue speckled flowers, and varigated leaves which grew this way for years. Then SUDDENLY one day it changed! It changed to all white, with blue speckled flowers, and varigated leaves on exactly half of the plant, and dark blue flowers, and dark leaves on exactly half of the opposite half of the AV! You could actually see the dividing line exactly down the middle of the two types on this plant! Even to any flowers on the dividing line were half white/speckled and half Dk blue! Leaves, on the dividing line were exactly half varigated, half dk green! It was weird to look at! But, so cool! That was back in the 1970's BTW, The African Violet Society of America (or AVSA for short) has a huge A-Z research library of named varieties on they're website that you can research offical pictures, and discriptions of named varieties that are accepted as genuine varieties, and registered with them as such. You can become a member if you like for a membership fee, and they also offer an AV picture and discription data base on computer disc which has monthly updates that can be downloaded . Also for a fee. The AVSA is considered the Hall mark of recognized varieties. And is the final word on AV varieties. You can even breed your own type of new plant, or color combination, etc. and if you can get that specific plant's genetic's to remain stable for 3-4 generations from seed, you can then name it anything you wish, and register it with The AVSA. There are local AV groups in your area you can join that will have AV shows, with plants, cuttings, seeds, etc. for sale cheaper than anywhere else! Also state wide shows with other groups in each state, America wide shows, and International AV shows, and expo's. just like dog or cat petigree shows, (but without all the barking, meowing, leashes, flying hair, and cages!) AVSA will have all that info, with pictures, and more on they're website for you! They may still have a seed exchange library still available free to members. Here's the recipe I use for my jelly made with flowers. I've made violet (my favorite), lilac and dandelion (a bit earthy). It's the same recipe for any flower. Wild Violet Jelly Two cups fresh violet flowers (no stems), well rinsed and drained. 2 cups boiling water 1/4 cup bottled, strained lemon juice 4 cups sugar 1/2 teaspoon rosewater (very optional) 1 package liquid pectin Place rinsed flowers in glass bowl, pour boiling water over the flowers, cover and steep for at least two hours, overnight, or up to 24 hours. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve and use a wooden spoon to press all the liquid from the flowers, then squeeze the rest of the liquid out. It will be dark purple/blue. If necessary, you can store this infusión in the fridge for a few days. (I have frozen it for a year, still good). Put infusion into a large stainless pot, add lemon juice - it will turn light purple. Add sugar and bring to a rolling boil, stirring frequently to ensure that the sugar dissolves. Let it continue to boil for a few minutes, and when you have a good rolling boil, add the liquid pectin - return to a boil, stirring constantly (it will foam up ALOT) and cook for exactly 1 minute. Remove from heat, and follow the instructions for filling jars - I got about 9 little jelly jars (1/2 cup). Wipe the rims, put on the lids, and screw on the rings, and process for 10 minutes in hot water bath. The amount of flower doesn't really matter except for color and fragrance. The most important ingredient is the liquid - water in this case, though I have seen recipes that use apple juice or wine or white grape juice. I image they are very good too. I missed the honeysuckle this year. I would like to try red clover. I did discover that buttercup is not edible. I don't know anything about your other plant, but I did Google it, and apparently the only part documented as edible is the root. But there are plenty of other wonderful edible flowers - rose petals, lavender, elderflower, honeysuckle, rose hips, etc.

Coffee pots always make beautiful real/faux flower vases. Is it clear glass, use the half-marbles or other marbles/cut glass pieces you find at craft stores or Walmart (in the craft section) and put them in the bottom to hold the flowers up straight or to cover up the stems of the faux flowers. About $1.99 at WM and $1 at the Dollar Store. You could even GE Silicone II glue the half-marbles on it in a pretty flower design or another design and then do the flowers or as a holder for something else. Another idea I've seen on the Garden Junk forum is they hang a watering can/tea pot/coffee pot from a post hanger and plant flowers in it or string some light blue beads and glue them to the inside of the spout so it looks like water is being poured out. Do a "search" in that forum on teapots, I think that will find that post. Hope these ideas help you with your project, please post a pic for us to see when you're done. Sal

I love the Craftman style and bet your home is going to be really lovely when it's done. Sure wish I had a place in our home for something like that. While browsing, I found a couple more that could be interesting and easily made in the dimensions you need. I really like the coloring in both of them.
