You might want to check out the Quilters Table from Joanns. I am not a quilter but I think they call it this because of the grid on top. I received this from my daughters for Christmas. It is a cabinet that folds up. It is 47" long, 15" deep and 29" tall. The top has a quilters grid on it. The back has 2 pieces that fold out and makes the top double in size. Very nice cutting area. Nice casters for pulling out when you want the top expanded. There is a drawer plus a door with 2 shelves on the left side. I am leaving the door off you I can use baskets. Then there is a table that rolls out from the other side and folds back in the seating area. It is attached to the right side. It is suppose to be so you can have a sewing machine and a serger set up at once. It is a Sew Essential product from Joanns. It is called Quilters Design Table - # 184-8746. It is $229.00 but the girls got it for $139.00. They ordered it online and payed only &2.95 shipping. I will be able to wheel it out in my livingroom if I want or sew in the bedroom. Just perfect. In my bedroom I have a 4 drawer file cabinet that will set at the end and I am going to get some of those wire basket type comtainers ( they are magnetic) to put my scissors, pencils and such in to have right where I need them. Not all of the Joann stores carry it so you might have to order it online. It is very heavy.. It is a perfect size if you don't have much room. You can also sit the machines inside the fold out part and use it for a table when not sewing. Susie Susie

I just was gifted a singer touch and sew 603e with all the original parts and custom fit into an old treadle table. Sent it to the repair man for a tune up and cleaning and it works like a dream. He said he hasn't seen such a beautiful machine in a really long time. I just finished two straight line stitched quilts on it for Christmas gifts and I am loving it. I was wondering if there was a way I can get it equipped to do free motion quilting? What parts would be recommended and how would I go about adjusting settings to be successful in free motion quilting smaller projects? I'm not looking at using it as a machine in a long arm frame for anything, but rather just to do some fun stitching and detail work on my regular projects.

Hi There Lazygardens, I ended up taking it to our not so local repairman, I had never used him before, but because he was a long standing Singer dealer, and sounded so good on the phone I decided to at least to present the machine, and see what he had to say. I immediately noticed his walls and entire shop had Featherweights and more. After explaining everything to him, he ask me if I put the needle in right. I chuckled and said yes, it won't be that simple. So he says "in cases like this I can repair it now, on the spot for $30.00" I said "go for it, with a huge smile. It took him about 15 minutes though...and he also addressed the tension. So after I ask him "was it the timing? He said yes it was. So I had troubleshot it correctly, and learned a little by just watching him. What a guy. His repair shop was wide open to whomever came in. It was like a page in time warp going in there. Just wanted to let you know how it turned out. I am so pleased. The thrift shop Manager had told me before I had taken it in, to just see if I could get even $100.00 for it. I just was not ready to give up on it, I may have to eat the $30.00 repair bill, as i did not get a go ahead, but thats OK because MCC does alot of good work around the world and locally. I just can't tell you how good it feels to "get er done". Someone will love this machine. I don't know about all the white featherweights but I do know this one is impossible to trace the serial No. with any accuracy, and it does not have gears, it is belt driven. So I have at least learned something. It doe's not have the mechanical solidness of others in the featherweight class. However pretty it is, it is just a collector item. I would not recommend it for a quilter or serious sewer. Ginger

Tootsie, Something like this is what you need, but unfortunately I don't know where you would get it. When I bought a mid-80's Singer(in the mid-80's,LOL), the(fabric)store sold me a universal table and this plastic extension to go with it. It sets on the table in back of the machine, taking up the extra space. My Singer is long gone, but I still use this extension with my current machine(which is taller, but the extension is still usable). I don't know who manufactured the table, but maybe the info on the extension will help you with some research.
