So, it's okay to paint the whole wall with the BIN? On the can, it sounds like it's only for spotting?? The 'spots' are covered, with the Kilz so it would be impossible to spot them, now! :o) I just want to be sure I don't have any knot-hole bleeding after all this work!! Skooshka--you're SO right, unfortunately!!! It's very difficult to put your hands on an expert anything in the HD or Lowe's stores and sometimes even in paint stores! Sigh!

I used Kilz Casual Colors recently to paint some new drywall, and I'll eventually use it to paint the rest of that room. It's extremely thick, which is probably why they say it will cover anything in one coat. I found it difficult to roll on thin enough that it didn't sag, and because of that I did not use it on another project. Another issue with Kilz Casual Colors is that it can be hard to find anyone in the store (WMT) to tint it, and since their colorant dispensing isn't computerized, it may not be as accurate as some others.

I tried it in a small room. The former owner had damaged the walls, so I had to do a lot of repairs before painting. To cover up my repairs, I added that sand stuff to the primer. Even with the rough texture, I only had to do one coat. The paint is considerably thicker than anything I have used before, it went on easily, and now that I think about it, there wasn't much splattering or dripping. The paint was a light gray color covering a white, I didn't notice any pulling at all, and I did check carefully.

There is a problem that has been going on for at least 10 years with some paints that don't cure properly and stink forever. We repainted our guest bathroom in 2013. The paint dried but stunk like chemicals. We waited a whole year and the smell did not go away. I found some very extensive forum links from people who had the same problem. The problem seemed to be across paint brands. Which is what we eventually ended up doing in 2015. Tore the whole bathroom out (tile also due to there being drywall above the tile line) and replaced every painted surface with new drywall. Smell gone! Many people tried encapsulating the smell with various products, baking it out, ozone machines etc. We tried baking and ozone with no luck. From the many posters it seemed only drywall tear out and replacement worked so that is what we did. I was very nervous to paint the new drywall and every paint brand you could think of was on the thread as having caused problems. Zero VOC and low VOC paints seemed to be the common thread of people that had problems and it was across all brands. I suspected improper mixing of chemicals from China that were common to all paints. As a result I chose a paint made in the USA called ECOS paint.
