Thanks all. I should see where F&B is sold and give them a try. I keep seeing wonderful rooms done in F&B and I hear it's good quality. The servant's rooms are not adjacent to any other rooms for the family living area (at the time) this one adjoins the kitchen and nothing else. I won't be doing wallpaper in the kitchen. It will generally be a white room with unfitted cabinets in a few different colors I'm thinking. But that's a bit down the road. Right now the adjoining room is done in mauve and blue flowers with little geese and hearts on the boarder...wanna guess a decade for that crap? I ordered the fabric above with some contrasting patterns (stripes and solid) as well as the paisley. I love the tones. I am totally sold on painting the wicker persimmon (now where do I find that in a spray paint LOL). I love the soft greens in the fabric and I am thinking I will do the walls with that for now then when we redo the kitchen go with the high wainscoting. I love the idea of the plate rail at 5'. But I want to make sure that works with the pine shelfs I have already purchased. They might be too high at 5' (the ceilings are 10' and the larger piece must be a good 4' plus tall). But I could also do one around the top of the room which is a nice look. My new challenge is how to hide a five or six inch cast iron plumbing drain that runs up the wall (uncovered when I started pulling wallpaper off). Do magnets stick? Maybe I could cover it with magnets LOL Ohh and on the ceiling, I have been in contact with a lovely man back east who uses antique molds (or whatever they use) going back to this ceiling (it came out of a hotel in san francisco and is in the kitchen and dining room as well but the dining room will come out). He is going to work with me to "fix" both rooms so that the tin doesn't just die into the wall. The cornice is odd...it actually looks more like a pipe cover or something because it dips down and than back up again (picture a gutter glued to the ceiling). It's just down the long walls and not on the other two so it looks like ummm maybe a bowling alley gutter upside down LOL I actually could picture using some of the morris paper in here...I have a bunch of samples I can compare to the fabric when it comes. I actually do love a few of the simple fill styles. Datura have you ever been to the fabric district in LA? If not...my dear you have to go! It's wholesale prices and blocks and blocks and blocks of wonderful fabrics. Fabulous bolts at 120" wide...silk (good quality) 120" for ten bucks a yard! Talk about going crazy....Ohh dear I think I lost her...she's probably booking a flight as we speak. heh heh

OMG! I was having trouble posting asking if anyone remembered the Hypertufa forum, or wintersowing, or cement. I got so many good ideas on the GW forums. I have moved since the old GW days (still zone 7a), but I did a ton of FTF trades and USPS bare root trades. And, I feel the same about FB - I find it so intrusive. As for Houzz, I hired (and paid) and got ripped off by a contractor found through the site. I spent close to $1000 (last fall an emergency fix and then this spring, fixing it correctly. (The original job, a patio, cost several thousand dollars and he created a massive drainage problem). Then, I went to review him on the site to review contractors, but they are not easy to scroll thru and I do not have hours to look thru 1000s of their contractors.

Wow -- great ideas are flowing in! I wish I had your vision -- then I wouldn't need to ask for advice - lol! ;-) Excellent! @Elaine Ricci - wow - what a beautiful lodge - you nailed it! And I would love to go there some day. :-) It must be an incredible vacation destination. @localeater -- thanks! :-) and the Danes love the place too. Excellent idea!! - rustic white would look incredible with the dark floors and mahogany - and wouldn't scream 'over the top rustic' (or 'park bathroom look' - lol!) And I love the quilt idea too. Thank you!! @eandhl2 - I've waited 10 years to finally call it home :-) Fortunately it was close enough for weekend get-a-ways or mini vacations -- but to know that I won't have to go 'back to the city' someday, will be a dream come true (but that may be awhile off with all the de-cluttering I have to do in my old house -- oh my - when will it ever end! :-). Hopefully the ol' gal sells quickly this spring - summertime is ideal at the lake. Yes - and very peaceful -- no boats allowed except kayaks and row boats or small electric ones for fishing. I do love it - T111 and all! :-) @pennydesign - hmmm...what a concept - embrace the contrast! I like it! I like the suggestion photo too - cool! :-) @J Williams - another great idea! I may even have some of that stuff already. :-) But listening to you all - with so many incredible suggestions, I am certain painting is first on my agenda. I think that was where my struggle was coming from -- imagining anything against such a 'charming' backdrop of T-111 was just throwing me for a loop. Doing some research, there have been some folks that suggest skipping the removal part and just affixing the drywall right on the 'paneling' -- while others say, if you are going to do it, do it right -- and it will give you a chance to see what's behind those walls. More to think about -- but I'm really starting to seriously consider trying the paint route first. All say it is a huge amount of work, though, so I'm not sure what is best -- if nothing else, if it does take too much work or looks terrible, then decision is made - drywall over it. Again, thank you so much -- I am inspired and uplifted....and so happy some of you enjoyed my story. Thank you for your kindness. :-)

Even the kids room have such a warm and charming vibe. I gave him a slight demerit for the kids rooms, because I do not believe they were shown as they would actually be used. It is tough to make a kids' room nice and still make it a room they can use; we can all design a lovely fake kids' room. Eg, a glass framed picture leaning on the windowsill, and another leaning against a wall. Or ~$900 worth of paper plants in pots, one on a radiator. Not happening. Or even the glass framed nautical knots on the wall of the boy's room. No young boy would choose that. In a nursery, you haver free reign. Once they are old enough to be in a bed, you kind of have to let them have their own space or at least choose some of it. PS Sue. Yes and I want one so bad. I think it has been a good year or 2 since I posted about them here and now they are all.over.the.place. ETA - I love the lighting, but if you go back and look at it, I don't think you could really light your home like that, unless no one was doing anything all day except having cocktails.
