I ask this question because I'm angry that I did not know that any of this

occurred...except for the fact that I had the opportunity to read about this on a

web site and have now subscribed to it [free] and have been receiving it for over a

year.

I am not a part of this organization nor do I profit from it in any way but I would like

to recommend taking a look at it as I think it is excellent, free, no spam, you can

localize and just get reports that what effect your state.

It has recalls, warnings, announcements, articles ----

on food, toys, cars, medicines...more

I cannot understand why you would be upset about a recall.
It's if food is contaminated and not recalled that I worry.

I have never heard of any of these products to be honest. I do know that there are recalls on products all the time. As a consumer you have to be aware. E.Coli bacteria often shows up in packing houses that don't follow strict guidelines. Most recently corn products that had the genetically engineered corn in them and hadn't been approved for human consumption was a problem. Luckily I don't buy most pre-packaged processed foods, and I buy organic corn products so that was never an issue.

That is one VERY cute baby, a very thoughtful look, too. I was so wrapped up in what I was trying to do that I didn't comment. Annie, Sam does look a good bit like Sean Connery but wasn't thrilled with all the picture taking that was going on, I think. Basically he's a happy, fun-loving person to travel with. Ann is my best friend and we've known Sam for years and traveled together numerous times. Neither of our husbands like to travel but don't mind if we do, so it works well. You're on the countdown with the wedding now and I know it will be beautiful and I'd say fun, too. You've put in a lot of hard work and I can't wait to see the pictures and hear all about it. jude

I made those cookies, and they are great. A little come and go time consuming, in the sense that you do a little bit, refrigerate, do a little bit, refrigerate some more, then do a little it more, refrigerate even again, then you finally get to bake. They are not difficult to make, though. It was a good lesson in patience for my 5 year old grandson, but we both had fun making them, and even more fun eating them! They turned out very large, a little crunchy bite to the outside and soft on the inside - really nice texture. Sally

Gardenlad, your Black Pepper Spaetzle w/Onion & Paprika Sauce is a keeper at our house. I tweaked it just a little by using a full teaspoon of paprika and a teaspoon of white balsamic vinegar (the only white vinegar I had). I grew up with paprikas and Szekely goulyas made with a pretty heavy amount of paprika. I thought the amount of black pepper was just perfect in this, a bit of kick, but not overpowering. I also had to add about two T more flour because I don't have a spaetzle plane thingy and I needed the dough to be heavy enough to spread on a board and cut off with a knife into the pot of water. But those are minor changes, we both loved the recipe and it was perfect with our roast pork. A tossed salad, steamed green beans and quince slices cooked with wine were the other sides. All in all it was a lovely dinner and I thank you for sharing the recipe. Lee

Just curious, if you are vegan why are you so upset about meat recalls?

Perhaps things are better now, but some years ago, a governmental study in India revealed tha almost 80% of the patients in hospitals were there because of water or food contamination. Although some of this contamination was from processing and chemicals, much of this food was grown organically. Thank goodness for all of the water purification, antiseptics and recalls in the USA. I admire small, clean organic growers, but, if our huge agri-businesses were allowed to sell organic unprocesses food without inspection we would be in bad shape.

Just because someone is vegan doesn't mean that other members in their family are. And I think she is upset about the recall because it isn't advertized more.... If there is a contamination and she didn't find out until she went on a web site then she or other people she knows could be feeding their family or eating contaminated meat and not know it. I don't like to eat meat alot that is why I come here to find some great recipes to make for myself. my husband is a meat and potatoes guy so I have to buy it for him so this could be why she is "upset" just my 2 cents.

...& it wasn't JUST meat - didn't anyone note the apple juice, friut salad, cheese & muffins on that list?????

BTW, the Starlink reference was to corn products (tortillas) I believe.
