They have a chamber of commerce, if you fiddle around with the name you'll probably be able to access it. (I live one town away). Among the nicest hotels is the Anchorage By the Sea. There are several others that are every bit as nice, but even though I drive past them daily I can't recite their names!

Realtors:
ERA Masiello group
Century 21
Anne Irwin
Rivers By the Sea
probably more links by surfing around for the Ogunquit chamber of commerce, or the one for Wells, or better yet, York.

If you go to Ogunquit make sure you use the trolley in the summer. Traffic and parking are a nightmare, the trolleys are reliable, affordable, and convenient since locals always let them into traffic!

sunnyside, York Co. is very well infested with JBs, probably more so than any other county in ME. I live approx. 20 miles north of Ogunquit and have been dealing with severe infestation of JBs since we bought this garden 8 years ago. I have lived in coastal York Co. for 10 years and there have always been JBs. If you never noticed the JBs in Ogunquit before, maybe they just hadn't "discovered" that particular rose patch. They seem to thrive a little better slightly inland rather than directly on the ocean. Although it's really not pleasant when lounging on the beach to have the dumb things land in your hair, like the other day.

Yup, definitely better off in Niagara on the Lake than NF! The carriage ride sounds nice though. The last time I went to the falls w/ some friends we took them on a hot air balloon ride which was also a nice way to see it. We had great food too, don't get me wrong! Lots of seafood and lobster chowder and delicious muscles! Did you have PEI muscles on Prince Edward Island? We ate lobster, but I actually liked the lobster stews and seafood stews better than just the plain lobster for the most part. We just got a little sick of the local restaurants in the area where we were since we ate out every single day for a month (it was nice to eat in Bar Habor, Calais, Eastport and the other places we visited!) Did you go to Acadia National Park on your trip or no? We did a nice lighthouse/ nature tour in Bar Harbor, which had gorgeous scenery. We were on a lake, not the ocean. We picked a lake b/c we were told the water was much warmer on lakes in Maine and actually swimmable as opposed to the ocean which was too cold. May have been why there were so many mosquitos! Glad to hear that you'll be doing some remodeling at least :) A new kitchen, baths and a pool sound fun to do! We're embarking on a backyard landscape/screen porch project soon, but no swimming pool. Summer place: We want weather that is reasonable cool (no 80 degree days); a place where we can be on open water (lake or ocean, no houses visible) and a place where we can have at least 5 acres. I've learned my lesson after FL and I will never buy property on less than 3-5 acres again, I don't care how good the view is. It would be nice if it wasn't a super far drive from PA but that seems unlikely. If anyone has rental suggestions for next summer for a place for us to try, I'd be open to hearing them :) In the meantime, we're shifting our focus to finding a new FL house to buy (hoping the old one sells quickly this winter!) and will wait a few years for the summer home.

My house! Seriously, you should come for lunch if you are in the area and we are up. I'd love to meet you. Kennebunkport and Ogunquit are both nice (and I would not miss the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, a nice stroll with great views). I think Kennebunkport has nicer hotels if you are looking for high-end. Eg The White Barn Inn or the Tides. When we went to Ogunquit for the first time we stayed at Sea Rose Suites. Very spacious suites with laundry and full kitchens, balconies. Centrally located. Nice, clean, new but not fancy. I think you will find plenty to do between Portland, Me and the NH border (that is maybe 1-1.25 hr.s). Avoid coming or going on a weekend, if you can; traffic is no fun on weekends. Just over the NH border are the Kittery outlets. I am not an outlet person (i might be if they were real outlets, but nowadays there is more sg footage of outlet retail than traditional retail in the US!) but it is a popular area. There are some fun boutiques in Portsmouth, NH, Ogunquit, the Kennebunks and Portland. Lots of really good places to eat. You are wise to plan now. Things get booked up very very fast. Feel free to email me with any q!

Great find - lucky you!!! Love those seltzer bottles too! I'm another eBay girl and have found some fab bargains here in the UK, such as a Smallbone of Devizes butcher's block for only £200, that retails for way more :) We've been buying (and selling) on eBay for about twelve years and most of our best furniture, antiques and decorative items have been found there. We also have a site called Preloved where we managed to pick up - literally, lol as DH had to drive miles into the darkest countryside - a Rangemaster all electric oven that retails for £2000........we paid £350 and it was barely used. We'd just sold the same oven (dual fuel - there was no mains gas at our onward purchase) with our previous house and were amazed to find a replacement in such great condition for such a good price!

I did email the Chamber of Commerce for a guide. I will check out links for York and Wells, too. Thank you for taking the time to respond and for the info!

The Yellow Monkey is a nice guesthouse - it's on the main drag in town. Summer in New England is wonderful - but o the coast it can be cool at night - bring a light jacket or sweater. Enjoy your visit! It's a beautiful area.

We really enjoyed the Juniper Hill Inn. It is right on Route 1 and a short (5 min) walk through a beautiful neighborhood to the beach. Indoor pool, outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The rooms are very nice as well.

Hope this helps. It is such a wonderful place to go. Make sure to have breakfast at the Omelette Factory. Amazing omelettes (and other stuff, too!).

Hi

We vacation in Maine almost every summer. Last year we rented a cottage through Seaside Rentals in York. Our cottage was in Ogunquit and close to Little Beach. Their catalog is on their website at Seasiderentals.com
I would suggest you book soon, since things fill rather quickly. Have a great vacation.

You will have a lovely vacation for sure! I went there every summer as a kid...my parents owned a summer cottage. There is something for everyone and for all ages. Enjoy!

When you live in a resort community you very often tend to take the beauty around you for granted. It's sad, but true.

It delights me to see how many of you have enjoyed your visits to, "my neck of the woods"! I sometimes get frustrated with slow drivers, but always force myself to SLOW DOWN, relax and take a lesson from visitors. I freely volunteer information and directions, too...

We stayed at the Nellie Littlefield house in September of 2001. It was the first time either of us had ever stayed at a B&B and it was a wonderful experience! We were right in the middle of town. There are so many places to stay in Ogunquit ... I don't think you can go wrong with any choice.

We were fortunate to miss the summer crowds. I know I wouldn't have enjoyed our time there if we had to fight crowds everywhere.

Definitely take the trolleys. Forget driving unless you're traveling beyond the areas the trolleys serve. Plan a visit to Stonewall Kitchen in York ... it's just down the road.
