Glad you liked my area! Don't come back til the SPRING! Cold weather on it's way already! I LOVE the tile turtle!!! I have numerous little metallic bath tiles sitting around, have to figure out a base. You could have visited a little south of Buffalo where I am & I would have given you some REAL turtles - SNAPPERS. They have invaded my neighbors pond. HUGE ones. Every year, one mama turtle digs a hole next to the warm asphalt road & lays 50 or so eggs. Thank goodness their 1/2 a mile down & I don't have a pond for them to visit! I DO have to watch for TURTLE Xing every year. Wonder if there's such a sign??? lol

Well Robert(o) I've been waiting to see a reply to your post but it's been a few days and no one has answered you yet so I thought I'd give you my 2 cents. I am new to growing brugs but have admired them for many years. I always thought you had to have a tropical climate to grow them, but I now understand that they overwinter very well in the basement. They go dormant then when you put them back outside in the spring they pick right back up. At least that's what I've been reading and hoping. I just got my first few cuttings this summer and I'm looking for a couple specific ones to add to my small collection, and I'm hoping that they will be just like the ones I see in the books. I've even read recently (I think on this forum) that you can cut the trunk right to the ground and put it in a bucket of water in your basement and it will go dormant but also grow roots to be planted in the spring. I can't wait to see my first bloom! I hope that someone with a little expertice answers you soon, I want to hear their answer also. Roxanne

Les, sounds like a plan to me. Reusing glass panels....hmmmm, well, I will have a couple of them before long. Only no really cold winter months, but the vertical use of a 1/2 inch thick 6 foot long 20 inch wide sheet of glass, guess I could find a way to use it, maybe. It is covering my desk at the moment, and I have visions of two separate desks each 5 feet long and 24 inches wide. One for me, one for DH. We share the study. As for the container success, I also like to raise the pots up and feature one plant higher than the rest, maybe one which can take more sun, and then it can shade the ones at its base. The foundation doesn't have to be pretty if it is surrounded by other leafed-out hosta. It helps squeeze in MORE plants where you thought you could not have them. You can also allow the garden to ebb and flow, moving things around as they wax and wane, feature a hosta that is really showing off nicely, and moving the problem child into the TLC area. I'm very pleased with container gardening. It sure gives me a lot of exercise and that's a good thing. My Niagara Falls is so small, it is sharing a large pot with Aqua Velva. Next year, I'm hoping it shows its nature. I would love to feature it like I have Krossa Regal. I think that is another hosta you have which I admired, Les, and scooped it up when I saw that WadeGatton had it. Field grown, and ready to grow.

I had my wedding reception at the Red Coach Inn. We were married by the Falls on the American side. That was 2001 and while the park area next to the Falls on the American side was nice, at that time the American side was practically a ghost town. Very little to do - very few shops or restaurants open at that time.
