In your opinion, what do you think are the best shows in Branson?

Haven't been there for a few years but you may want to see who is at the Grand Palace. We went to the Dixie Stampede and it was a meal and a western variety show. It was entertaining enough that my dd at 2 yrs liked it. Food was good too. The entertainment is in an arena and they use period or theme costumes and do a lot of trick riding. At least they did.
Shoji Tobuchi (spelling) is excellent I've been told. If he's still there.

Yes Shoji is a great show.Also Jim Stafford is great and Buck Trent morning show also Mickey Gilly my favorites are Presleys and Bald Knobers and Country Tonight.You will not see a bad show in Branson best place to eat is The Plantation

Using the term "Nazi" to characterize the U.S. government is an appalling insult to every person in the U.S.A. People use the term "Nazi" far too freely. Were this government truly run by "Nazis" many of us would be in prison camps or worse yet, in ovens. We should thank our lucky stars that there is no "Nazi" government here. Who do you think the government is? If you're here in the U.S. it's all of us, like it or not. Those of us who vote, have sent the representatives that are in Congress, elected the President, etc. I wish people would refrain from characterizing others as "Nazis" because the users obviously have no clue of how horrific Nazism really is. Additionally, (and I'll just speak to Americans on this...) we are our government whether we choose to admit it or not. We can point fingers at "them" all we want but we put "them"there and "they" pretty much stay at "our" pleasure. I do understand the frustration that is rampant amongst people in the U.S. I get frustrated with the government for sure but...it is not run by Nazis and to characterize the government that way is just plain wrong. Additionally, if someone has a beef with the government, tell the government don't tell me. Do something about it. Nothing changes when all one does is run one's mouth with invective at the problem. It solves nothing and one becomes part of the problem.

Yes, Mikassa is closing end of Dec, everything is 30 off at the moment, I guess it will increase. I did find some nice things for gifts. Also, check my post on my finds. Did you see those bowls and pitcher I got at Pfaltzgraff for 96 cents?

MarciaSC, With regard to wives still having almost the same load after husbands retire. I've told this story quite often, and get varying replies - I've been a retirement consultant for a few years. Husband retires. On the morning after, he sits reading the paper. For a few minutes. Lowers the paper, looks around. Raises the paper, reads for a few minutes. Lowers the paper, looks around. Same thing happens again. When next he lowers the paper, wife asks, "Everything O.K., dear?". Husband asks in reply, "Where's breakfast?" Wife says, "You retired yesterday, didn't you?" Husband says, "Yes, of course - you know that". Wife says, "So did I". Then she adds, "Tell you what - I'll get breakfast now, then we'll sit down and discuss who's to do what around here. We need to have equal amounts of chores to do, in future". As I said - I've had varying responses. Wives especially get a kick out of it. Several have said, "That's a good idea - we'll have to try that". Husbands may not care for the prospect - but find it hard to dispute the logic of such a proposal. Good wishes for equalized household chores in future - where there's two of you. Even if I were to make such a statement - there's no one else around to hear. So - I'm stuck with doing all the chores, myself. No spouse around to notify me that I'm not doing it most efficiently or the easiest way. Good wishes to all. joyful guy/Ed P.S. I have to agree with Slow, I spent the early years in the Branson area and other than seeing you and your Mom, there is not a desire there for me. I also am going to have to limit my travel due to the gas prices. It would take a car load of us splitting expenses to be able to do this. Maybe we could get a bunch together, maybe not? Tell your Mom to post pictures of the angel, I am anxiously awaiting.

I enjoyed the Jim Stafford show also. I didn't like the Dixie Stampede much ~ felt as if they were "throwing" the food at you. The Majic Show was okay, but they spent a lot of time selling these "weasel" puppets that your kids will REALLY want after they see the show.

If you go to Branson around Christmas, don't miss Andy Williams. Great Holiday show.

I liked Dixie Stampede. I have heard that Mo Bandy is very good.

Being very anti-country music - my friends laughed when I told them we were going to Branson! Pooh on them. LOL We thoroughly enjoyed the trip up there, new scenery for us, and the shows we most enjoyed were Andy Williams, Shoji, and at the Grand Palace - Dino! All these shows were marvelous. Never quite found any really delicious food, but it was ok. I loved being in that area. We went in October, and the leaves were turning - just gorgeous.

Thanks for all your responses to my question. We just got back from Branson tonite and we had a great time. Went to see the Presley's, The Spirit of the Dance and the Baldknobbers. They were all great ...especially liked the Baldknobbers. Also went up to Springfield to the Bass Pro Shop. Amazing!!! On the way back stopped at Lamberts to eat and it was delicious.
