Thanks to all who love my bike - whimsey in anyeone's garden seems to bring a lift to all those who see the whimsey. I think I'll leave the color as it is - it's not as faded in person, I think the bright sunlight made it look more so. Kudzukween - what a great idea for your mailbox, is there a photo we can see somewhere? And a great direction marker for all who drive by. One of our neighbors has one of those airmail boxes (you know the ones that are way up on a pole that you can't reach - everyone uses that as directions too). Ashli thanks for remembering me on my day. So sorry that someone would steal your two bikes - after you took the time to encorporate them into your garden. If you ever get a replacement for them, you'll have to chain them down - sad to say in this day and age. We live in the country, but we lock our gate when we aren't here and we lock it at night too. Better safe than sorry. I've always had it in my mind to have a big lady manniken at our property entrance with a purple dress on and a big hat, but have never gotten around to it - could never find the right color dress or a manniken I could afford that would be weather proof - now I am thinking I might cut something out of plywood and paint it. I'll do another post of the one I have in my little garden cottage - you'll love the story - oh maybe I'll put it on my blog - it's easier to post that way. Happy Whimsical Gardening to Everyone.

Frankielynn: I'm sorry you can't see the dish flowers. Here is a photo of three of them for you. Nonacook: Thank you. I remember you too. I am so glad to see so many new people have joined. Garden Junk is a great forum. Cnm1: I use 3/4" PVC pipe that has been cut into 3" or 5" lengths according to the size of the plate backs. A screw is screwed into one end of the pipe. I use GE Silicone II for Windows and Doors Caulk to glue the pipe to the plate back, let it cure for a day or two, and then slide it over rebar to display in the garden. The screw keeps the rebar from going through the top of the pipe. I was going to use a pipe cap on one end of the pipe, but the screw works just as well and is more frugal. Pipe pieces Screw

Lots of cool projects. My neighbor has a koi pond, she noticed that her fish were disappearing fast. She then spotted a very large owl in the tree near the pond and as she watched it swooped down grabbed a fish and flew away. So be sure to provide protection from flying predators. She put a milk crate in the pond upside down for the fish to hide in. She strung clear fishing line in a cross hatch pattern above the pond. The line is attached to nails and hooks that are in posts that she set up at the 4 corners of the pond. It works great. The owl can't fly through it and you can't really see it so it's not ugly. You can do it as a top to the pond too make a frame from the pallet lumber string the line across it and lay the whole thing down on top of the pond container. Lift it off for easy access. That could keep ground predators out too.
