Greenfield Plan Farm is a favorite. Their headquarters are in Mainville ... where they have their greenhouses (so you can pick from a lot of plants) and then a branch retail location in Anderson. This is smaller and doesn't have the full selection that the headquarters do. Second to that is Pipkins in Blue Ash.

It is several months too late to do this right this year. You might be able to put down rye seed and get 50 to 60% germination, and that would have to last you until next FALL. Late summer and very early fall is the best time to seed in Cincy (you probably hate Cincy). That would be August. Did you get your plan from the Pennmulch website? It is very likely that, if you have good drainage now, adding more topsoil will ruin that. You don't need more soil, and compost is best used on top of the grass, not under it. Use that instead of Pennmulch if you feel the need to cover the seed with something. Mother Nature never covers Her seed, but many people are successful covering it. Roll it after you mulch it. Spring is not a good time to seed in your area, because spring is when crabgrass seed is germinating. It germinates in about 3 days with constant moisture. Rye seed germinates in 5 days, fescue germinates in 10 days, and Kentucky bluegrass germinates in about 20 days. Do you see the problem there? By the time your target grass seed germinates, the crabgrass has been growing for days or weeks. It will dominate your lawn by July. A second problem with seeding in the spring is the new grass sprouts do not have time to develop roots hardened against the summer heat. Crabgrass is a summer annual plant and is naturally designed to thrive in summer heat, so that's strike two against new grass in the spring. I don't have a strike three, but the first two should be enough to scare anyone off. So if you don't want to spend the money, I would try the rye ASAP, like yesterday, and hope for the best. Then baby it through next season and then spend the money in August for a great lawn in 2022.

Thanks Joseph. The branch manager for their local distribution center here in town was the one who initally inspected the work and took his findings back to corporate. After 6 weeks here was the reply I received from him ”xxxxx will be reaching out to you to help resolve this situation. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you“. And the reply from the contractor two days later ”Good morning Steve, I just wanted to follow up and see what we need to do to get the situation rectified? Alside isn’t going to say anything because we were instructed to install the job like vinyl siding which it was per VSI specs”. After that i circled bak to the Mfg and happend to get connected with the regional manager who was the one who confirmed the work was not compliant. They also said that this was an issue between me and my contractor. Unfortunately, I don’t see any real help in finding a disinterested 3rd party through them. Thanks again for the suggestion! Steve
