Anyone ever been to Malta?

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon. We are both interested in going somewhere in the Med. Sea. I am a big history buff and Malta sounds beautiful. Can anyone give me some information on Malta ie costs for hotels etc.

YES, Lessa, I was there about 6 years ago - it was one of the most interesting places I have traveled. It has a very varied history from the ruins of ancient Goddess worshiping cultures to Greek and Roman History as well as the origin of the Kights of Malta. It is also a favorite beach destination for the English, although the beaches are narrow and rocky. Because it has a history of British occupation, everyone speaks English as well as Maltese and we found that the people were very friendly to Americans. The food was fantastic - much like the food in Sicily - lots of fish, home made cheeses, wonderful vegetables. There is a small casino, which was kind of sleepy as casinos go, and minimal night life. The whole place is very easy to see in a week and transportation around the island is easy by bus. Be sure to take a day trip to Gozo, another small island off the coast. Well worth the trip!

Just returned from a week in Malta. We loved our visit. last poster from 03 was correct in statements. You can find good flight/hotel pricing at virgin-vacations.com.

There is a lot of WWII history there. We saw the war rooms where Eisenhower spent time planning the invasion of Sicily, as well as his jeep in the nearby Military Museum.

This is an easy country to travel in because there is no language challenge for Americans. Great fish restaurants everywhere!

I was there a few weeks ago on a Sunday. They were busy and a nice woman walked around the showroom with me and pointed out several items I hadn't considered. I went hoping to see a Bluestar wall oven but they did not have one on display. I'd suggest if there's something in particular you're hoping to see, call first to find out if they have it on display. BTW, the nice saleswoman gave me a cold bottle of water after hearing me clear my throat several times. I greatly appreciated her thoughtfulness.

I don't know which route your tour bus will take, but I can say that one of the finest drives in the world is the road from Banff to Jasper. I've driven the south half twice and the complete route once. The route is a relatively easy drive except at one place where you have to gain altitude to go over a divide. There is one switch-back that has such a small radius that busses have to stop and backup to make the turn. Its at a 'safe' location. however. I hope that you get to stop at Lake Louise, one of the prettiest places on the planet. In the summer, Jasper is a bustling tourist town. I'll be full of back-packing 20 - 30 yr olds. I don't have any first hand knowledge about Calgary. We did meet a couple of outdoorsy young men one time while camping at a Provincal Park. We met these two friendly fellows while we were setting up our family tent. At first, I was a little suspicious of them because of their behavor, laying around on the ground and looking at their tents instead of setting them up like maybe they had injested drugs. An introductory converstation revealed they had left work in mid-afternoon and bicycled from Calgary to the camp site, a looong ride. They were merely tired and catching they breath. They were going to do a weekend bicycle tour ending back at Calgary Sunday night. Have fun, and do take a camera.

I probably should be "fitted"- mine are QUITE different in sizes. Get a bra to fit one side and the other billows over the fabric vs. fitting the larger one and I can almost put a pair of socks in the other! LOL Went to a new MD for an annual exam and he asked me "have they always been THAT different". Yep, at least since my late teens! I HATE looking for bras! and refuse to wear underwires!!!!!

Too funny, shades, same thing here. I inherited tons of scraps and the first project I'm starting on, think I need a better blue! One of the problems is, you get a tiny piece of something you fall in love with, need more of it and nothing else satisfies you after that point. Hum...does that sound kind of like meeting a significant other or...dessert in my case? After reading a few posts, I'm even more thankful for you gals. Also, sounds like backorders are a problem so, since I'm close, I won't have to go through that frustration. Fortunately, don't really "need" anything, but...(the battle cry of the mosaicers).
