Are there more photos? The only ones I am seeing are of the eating area and the peninsula counter. None of the kitchen...looks beautiful so we would love to see more!

I feel so sorry for you that you have so few windows. LOL. I think your windows are the scene stealer, but maybe because my kitchen is a cave, even 3 weeks into remodel.

I have to say, although I can imagine what a PITA your old kitchen must have been, it was adorable and those old cabinets of yours were exactly what I would have wanted. If they were new ;)

Doraville - I went to home depot for the cellular shades. I wasn't sure what to do and custom wasn't in our budget. I thought white would be best and I was thinking of maybe adding a colored swag for some added color. the backsplash is another story lets hopes this goes smoothly and I can say the kitchen is done!

chris45ny - UH NO! He's still not loving the idea, but my sister-in-law was here and we were talking about what to do with the light and I clearly stated we're swaging it! SO I hope he got the hint. She just cleared the light without hitting her head. we knew that was gonna happen.

sabjimata - I have to say the windows are what I fell in love with when we bought the house. I'm so glad it steals the show and makes the kitchen look so much more fabalous and a pleasure to be in. As for the old kitchen I really liked it myself, though no so functional, I was hoping to save it and move to the basement, but it was demolished the minute my DH and contractor started. Oh well!

Thank you all ... WOW! I'm thrilled with the transofrmation, though the old 50's kitchen was nice in that era, I think this suites us better and is much more functional. I love the openness we created before it felt so closed in now the windows make a world of a difference. Here is the before room.

Your space is really inviting and I suspect that you are very much "at home" in it. Nice job thinking through a lot of design issues. I agree that having the eating area look different is a good thing. Besides, I am a sucker for that style so I would have a hard time getting rid of it (unless of course it's uncomfortable or has some other problem). Have looked at your previous overhang-and-light-issue photos but didn't realize what else was included in the kitchen-dining space. Now that I understand it better, your solution looks less jarring than I thought it would be. I like the light and the flavor of the decor. Nice work!

Do you want a larger wall-mounted t.v. to watch during dinner or a little one for cook and visitors to watch occasionally or ....

Tell us more about what the t.v. issues are. Would a small, pivotable undercounter unit suffice?

Originally I planned this room to be a sitting room with a larger tv, however when we decided to place the table for eating I thought a smaller tv for while I'm cooking would be sufficient enough. The tv that is there is one I already had, so we're using it for now. I was thinking of possibly hanging one on the wall. I'd like a cabinet that holds additional platters and glasses for entertaining, however I'd like it to be no higher than the window sill. I guess its something I need to be on the look out for.

Thanks for the nice comments... as for the light I think it works nicely with the rest of the decor, though we need to decide if we're going to swag it over to the beam, which I think I want to do. I'm not sure what other light fixture would work since it will be hanging right over our heads... UGH! sometime things don't always work out.

I think you have done a lovely job with your kitchen - can't believe it was the same space. Great job having a vision and seeing it through. Good luck with your final details and especially the light over the bar. Have you thought about swagging it for a week and seeing how you like it - if you don't patching the hook where you swagged it shouldn't be too hard after you've done :-P

jreuter - no I haven't thought to do that. My DH is crazy over the littlest things, so I'm not sure a temporary fix will do. I need to swag it end of story or replace it all together.

texaskitchentoo - Thanks... there are alot of choices of cabinets on this site. I'm thinking I need to go with the same color as the stools. Hate to mix and match too many different colors.

jsweenc - hello! Thank you so much and YES I am so happy to be this far along. Its great to be able to enjoy the transformation. The table I've always had. I decided that we could make it work and it fits perfectly! I want to keep the tv in the corner since its already hooked up. I'd prefer not to hang it on the wall and thought this corner cabinet would function for both the tv and additional platters for serving. I want to add color in the room since the shades are so white. On the Home Decorating forum, everyone has suggested to add more color with accessories, so that's what I'm hoping to do.

Any suggestions from the kitchen forum would be helpful.

Oh by the way Roxy loves the room she's always looking out the sliding doors.

Oh dear, I went back and saw that I didn't read very carefully before. I still haven't read all but did notice that some of what I asked or mentioned you addressed already. (Like my splash question.)

I agree with those who say that the table is great there, and even better that you had it already! I'd keep it, unless it just bugs you and you don't like it.

I'm not very good about accessorizing but I wonder if when you have the splash in it will seem a little more lively and need less than you think. I'd wait and ask after it goes in.

As for the TV, have you thought about getting a hutch for that wall, not a corner cabinet? That would give you a place for your plates/platters. I'm not a good judge of size and proportion. Is the TV wider than the wall next to the slider? It looks to me like it would fit, but maybe doing that would make it difficult for you to see while in the kitchen, which would defeat the purpose.

Wish I had more suggestions to offer, but I think it looks awesome!

Was that a Harvest Gold dishwasher I saw in your old kitchen?! That brings back lots of memories starting with my aunt's new avocado green appliances (way back when)! LOL! I love your new kitchen!! The granite, the peninsula, your new layout--it's all great! And I agree that your old dining set looks like it was made for the spot. Your windows are soooo nice! What an update! I'm not one to mix woods either usually, but your dining table does fit perfectly. The chairs of the table also seem to follow the same lines as the stools, at least the backs seem to. I'd keep it and maybe just refinish it if it bugs you.
