Trash To Treasure

My Orange Blossom Pagoda

Okay so it's not actually an orange blossom but I had to call it something.

I posted this on the Garden Junk Forum but some members of trash to treasure might not go there.

The base of the pagoda is actually two automotive brake parts (a vented rotor and a brake drum), the glass is from a table lamp, the bricks came from the great charcoal kilns of Nevada (late 1800's), the top piece was part of a chandelier in HaroldÂs Club  Reno (got it at auction), and all the other parts are free weights (the bar, plates and end stops).

That's wonderful Robert. It must be quite heavy. Love the look. Lynn

That's talent. I really like the amber colored glass on top.

southerncomfort The spacers are the pieces that keep the weights from falling of the bar. Since I can' let a good thing rest and since I do have some more free weight to get rid of I'm working on another one for a darker corner of the garden. I will call it The Emperor's Jade and Gold Crown Pagoda. Might just as well have fun with the name too. But I have to find some more spacers first. Robert

When can I put my blossoming orange tree outside?
Q

As long at night time temps don't dip below the upper 30s, you can leave it outside. I use the 30s as my cut-off because you never know when the weather forecast is wrong and the temps may go lower than predicted. At 39-37 I MAY leave them outside but if the forecast predicts lower, I pull them inside. Citrus can withstand a very light frost but it is better to not take the chance. Mine are in the greenhouse so I just leave the doors open for pollination. My calamondin is blooming and the greenhouse smells so sweet.

No blossoms on Moro Blood Orange Tree

I've heard that you'll often have an off-year with certain Citrus. If it doesn't bloom and fruit next year, then you might become concerned. After three years, this was the first year that my Moro bloomed. It began blooming in mid-February and continued through mid-May, at which point the fruit had all set. I wouldn't expect the Moro to bloom this late in the season. Josh

Wow. This is so, so cool. How did you put them all together? Are they on a rod or something?

I usually don't like lawn sculpture much but this is interesting!

andi956 the barbell bar was driven into the ground and everything was assembled on it.

Glad you find it interesting.
