Can a super susan be retrofitted to a cabinet?

I have a lazy susan cabinet in my kitchen which I'm growing to hate for various reasons:

1. It is a 34" lazy susan, but the cabinet could fit a 38" lazy susan, so there's all sorts of wasted space around the edges.

2. Center pole.

3. Rickety wire baskets that tilt if the load isn't even.

Has anyone ever replaced a lousy susan with a better one? It seems like I could fit the parts through the cabinet door and then assemble into place. (Are the super susan trays "fixed" to the shelf?)

This is an example of something I should have dealt with before the counters went on, but I underestimated how annoying the rickety baskets would be, plus I was excited to have any access to a corner that had been dead for over 50 years. Oh well. Next kitchen...

Am I crazy?
