Cut the top hooks and handle off, turn upside down, shove deep in the ground and put a gazing ball in the obvious holder. The part that you cut off could be hooked onto your pot rack to hold extra pan lids. Cut the top hooks and handle off and use the left-over spiked stand to hold teacup feeder (you know the ones glued to the slinder vases) Paint it green and Use as a tomatoe or eggplant plant support in veggie garden. The tongs could be painted to resemble a whimsical garden bug if your hubs can bend the metal. Add wired-on beads as eyeballs in the tong hadles....See MoreReusing Old Kitchen Cabinets in Basement- Need Ideas!
Comments (3)We took some old cabinets out of our cabin and used them in my studio, I painted them with a dark blue, and copper paint, using a rag roll method, We put them along one wall, and I now have storage for my supplies. If you have a space that is open, start there, even drawing how you might want to use them. If its in the laudry room, or even for stuff that you keep in storage most of the time. We also got some old cabinets from my work and put them along the long wall in the garage, uppers and lowers, they now serve as a storage for kids sports equipment, car stuff, and animal treats. Along with my own paint sprayers, and chemicals...See MoreNeed Ideas for Repurposing LR and Dining Area
Comments (8)Yes! I'm definitely leaning toward using the area as a library/dining area and love the idea of a library table in the existing living area. Would love to hear more ideas about how to deal with the funky entry. The furniture I will be moving into the house is a mix of contemporary/transitional pieces mixed with mid 19th century primitives. My style is Pottery Barn - Crate and Barrel - mixed with clean lined primitives. I do have a mahogany desk and mahogany barrister's bookcase as well as an large oak bookcase with 4 glass doors (4ft high x 7 ft long). I'm not attached to the desk at all...but the other two pieces will move with us. I confess, I'm not a fan of mahogany or oak, but they are family pieces so they will have to go somewhere in the house. We also have a double bookcase in a walnut stain that has been in our office (7 ft high x 4 ft wide) The house has three bedrooms and since we have no children we can easily use some of our inherited pieced in other rooms. I haven't invested in a dining table yet, but plan to keep it simple. I'm not a fan of carved detail or fancy legs...I like things simple and rustic. The kitchen is galley style, but opens into a good sized breakfast area. I've attached photos of the future family room and kitchen. Please keep in mind...this is NOT my furniture in the photos. The family room will have a rolled arm sofa with two leather club chairs and a rustic pine coffee table. The kitchen looks out onto the lake, so I will be filling the space with some kind of kitchen table...likely pine or walnut, but haven't decided on the shape yet. Comments (21)Well, this morning DD changed her mind and said she really likes the bed privacy tent. I think we will probably go with that. It's relatively cheap and the easiest to install. I love the idea of a canopy bed, but there is exactly enough space for her mattress. I just don't think we could fit in a frame. The Ikea Kura might work because it looks very low profile, but I think the bed tent is the easiest and cheapest solution. Thanks everyone!...See More- 15 years ago
