Uses for Nesquik Containers

Hi all!

I love these forums! Great information and lots of creativity! My request is for unique/creative uses for the Nesquik containers. I have been saving them knowing that I can recycle them in other creative ways. This is where I hope that you can suggest ideas. They are oval in shape, yellow plastic, with lids.

Cut a slot in the lid. They make nice banks. You could papier mache the outside to make a piggy bank. Or glue on fake jewels if you're saving for something big.

OH for toys! Crayons, army guys, legos, markers, marbles, etc...

Or use them to carry cookies, pretzels, or other snacks while hiking, picnic-ing, or going to sports events whatever.

Put together a first aid kit to keep in the car or for camping, hiking, picnic-ing or going to sports events. BG

actually, come to think of it, i used about %20 local soil on that jabo the rest were bark fines and compost. most people suggest not using local soil becuase of weed seeds etc... i never have a problem with it. it always seems a great addition. i leave 1/2 inch on the top of my containers for mulch... no weeds and it keeps the soil cool. i bought it as a 3gal, and within 16 months had a dozen fruit the Jabo is in the middle of the pic. in a 7gal container. fruit and flowers. (small white bumps are flower buds). you can even see the tips of the leaves are burned when it didnt rain, and i forget to water it for a week.

Lifting pots above the ground protects them from sending roots down into the ground, which can be a problem in some situations or purposes. Those half-rotten pieces of wood look nice for hugelculture. If you happen to need to dig deep down in a bed, throw those wood pieces in at least a foot down, and cover with compost and soil. It is said to conserve moisture, and plant root are said to love it.

Thank you to all who responded to my post. i get the msg loud and clear. Do not use Roundup in containers. i will be weeding my pots. I’ll try to think of it as exercise and meditation combined.

What container(s) do you use for your Homemade Salad Dressings?

Like porknham, I usually use a mason style jar (the small size). Our favourite jam comes in them, so we always have loads of them floating around. They hold enough dressing for two or three large salads and have measurement marks on the side (and never, ever leak). I used to use this Tupperware shaker but it takes up more real estate in the fridge and I prefer a glass container. I still use it for Caesar dressing and popover batter, but it doesn't get the use it once did.

You could leave it as is, in your kitchen cupboard, but hide your small valuables in it when you go away.

Put yarn or crochet thread inside, poke a mall hole in the top for the thread to come through. This keeps it from getting all tangled up as you knit/crochet.

If you save enough of them - they would make pretty lanterns on the patio in summer.

visit the garden junk forum, there's a lady there who turns plastic containers into bird houses, planters, lights, everything!
