My stepfather just passed away.

My step father has always been my dad. He raised me since I was 3 and even when he and my mom split (but never got divorced) we made a point to see each other often. I love him very much. He was my best friend. He passed away about 2 weeks ago and it's been hard. He has two brothers who barely spoke to him and had no desire to be involved in planning the funeral. They wanted to cremate him which I was completely against. My sister and I asked if we could bury him (since technically my mother is still his wife we had every right to) and they agreed. But, since we wanted to have a wake and a burial his brothers didnt offer to help AT ALL. not with the arrangements and not with money (not a dime)so my sister and i 27 and 26 respectively, paid the entire thing. Now, I don't care about the money, i only cared that he deserved more than to be burned and forgotten about. don't get me wrong, if that is what you want that is fine, but he made no indication of that being his wish. So, now, his brothers asked my sister for the autopsy results and that has annoyed me. im not even sure why but I just feel like if you didn't care about him when he was alive, why are you asking for the autopsy results, not even the death certificate, just the autopsy. I might just be over-reacting or acting out of anger but I feel like THEY are the intruders and that I was his family. I don't want to get into fights with them over their brother, but I feel like I would be pissed if it turns out they have life insurance policies for him or try to take the little money from his pention that he made very clear was intended for my sister and I. Does anyone know what kind of rights we have as step children? As his brothers could they make us produce the autopsy results, could they challenge us for his pention? I just want to tell them it's a family matter and it's personal, but technically, they ARE his family.
