Vintage Postcard - Pics

These are pics of a Vintage postcard I picked up at an antique store. The first pic I "lightened" up in my photo program and in the second pic, I left it alone so there is no glare from the flash. There were several of them with the same embroidery and lace flap in different colors with different types of flowers and some had "France" on them. They were all signed "Charly" to his Love, "Olive" although this one does not have her name on it. And although not postmarked, the date of 1917 is written on them. This Gentleman must have been in France in WWI and bought them for his Sweetheart back home. How Romantic! I have another on hold at the antique store. --- Sal

Marvelous-- thanks so much for sharing, Linda! I love old postcards but have never seen any that are partially fabric and carrying a calling card like that. It's fascinating. Truly Victorian!

How really kind of you to help Vintage when it's not the easiest thing for you to do. I don't know any of these roses but sometimes the unknowns can be the most exciting. I had no idea how much I'd love Lady Alice Stanley and Souvenir du President Carnot (both from Vintage), and they even do well in the heat here! I wish you great joy with your roses as they grow and bloom. Ingrid

Vintage Valentine Postcard - Pics

I wouldn't frame them...I would put them out on easels, seasonally. Somewhere in this house of drawers, closets and boxes I have a bunch ( more than several) vintage valentines..many 3 dimensional with fold outs some very fancy postcards and several "flapper" type cards of the 1920's. When you don't have them on display all the time they become special when you do get them out. I have seen them framed casually backed with an old lace handkerchief and a piece of jewelry of the period...maybe a locket... Fun to display....and fun to put away when it's time for Easter. An elderly couple I know has a breakfast nook that looks practically identical to photo #5. Even the placement of the window on the wall. It's charming, however I've found it difficult to get in and out of when asked for coffee, ect. They couple seemed to have no problems all. Maybe I need to lose more weight!

Awww...man! Those are neat! I just can't help wondering how the story of Charley and Olive ended. I hope they married, had children and lived a happy life. Wish you could locate some of their family but "Charley" isn't a whole lot to work with, is it!? LOL

Enjoy - they are beautiful!
