If its one thing you can count on seeing in auctions is milk cans, milk cans and more milk cans. Seems they, along with old fire extinguishers used for spraying, that and railroad lamps, are forever on the auction block. They are pricey too, usually garner lots of bidders which drives up the price. Speaking of that, once saw an old toy truck , looked like it had been played with by a child who thought nothing of throwing it against a brick wall.....went for $400.00. I once bid on a cruet of cranberry glass....I liked it with the silver top....but not knowing much about what is good cranberry and what is phony, I stopped -- it went for $420.00 and later a fellow clued me in on what makes for good cranberry and he thought I stopped at the right time.

How do you get pictures to be small enough to post? My cell and Kodack digetal are to big?I have set them to the smallest size they will go? I have tried to post but that is the rejected message I get...still trying

I wish I would have kept the one I had years ago. I think I had tall dried botanicals in it. Would love to have it for umbrellas now. I've seen one made into a stool by attaching a wooden cap that had been covered with foam and fabric. They'd also make a great lantern. Pick a design and draw with permanent marker where you want to drill the holes. They're too big to put in the freezer so if you filled them with water in the winter then when it's froze you can drill the holes. Bring it and let it drain out in the sink or drain in the basement drain. Add a jar candle and be very careful when lighting.

Besides knowing the style of your home it would help to know the style of the milk can and the desk. Does it have an interesting shape? This milk can is stamped 'Abbot Bros Dairy' and has brass detailing and handle, and is selling for $800. A Modern style home can take a counterpoint of adding one vintage item. Is it graniteware and colorful? Brass? What condition is it in? Old rusty ones are often used in gardens. I love what they did here: Some people paint them. (Not my cup of tea.) Are you willing to "damage it"? How big is yours? They were made in sizes from roughly gallon size for delivery to huge ones that dairies used for bulk storage.
