is this the forum where people would post recycled things such as reclaimed wood projects etc?

I am always amazed at people taking things trash to others and reusing them to make beautiful things. perfect contrast to the world of buy new and many today

No. 2,105,800 discloses a flexible subirrigation device utilizing a scrap rubber tire that is buried horizontally in the ground surrounding the root portion of a plant. The tread portion forms the outer periphery and the side walls form the top and bottom walls, and the bead portions which fit the rim may be positioned close together or wide apart to form an annular slot facing toward the roots of the plant. The downward facing side wall is provided with a plurality of perforations and a funnel may be connected into an aperture in the upper facing side wall for introducing water into the tire casing. The tire casing may also be filled with a water absorbent or water retention material prior to its burial. The Watkins patent issued in 1938 and since that time much has been learned about buried tires. Most States now have regulations prohibiting burial of whole scrap tires in landfills because they tend to trap air and gases and rise to the surface. Also, studies have shown that buried tires can produce toxic chemicals that are leeched into the soil and groundwater. Watkins states that the cotton cords may rot, however, with modern day steel belted tires, the metallic elements may rust and also leech hazardous metallic solutions into the soil and groundwater. These hazardous chemicals and solutions are likely to be absorbed into the groundwater and root system of the plant. I wish I'd seen those before we built. Merillat didn't have that option but we could have installed it ourselves. We have the double trash pullout for recyclables, but I forgot that CT has bottle deposit so instead of newspapers one gets used for soda cans. Trash is under the sink. But I may change out the 18" double trash pullout to pullout drawers and replace the LS in the corner with a 3-4 bin trash/recycle when we get new countertops in a few years! Does anybody know if you have to pull the countertop off to get these in, or is there a telescoping rod with a cotter pin that can just be pulled out? Also, the inside of my corner cabinet is curved - is that a problem for the bins?

I have this one in the 27-gallon size, which is <12" wide: https://www.rev-a-shelf.com/showProduct.aspx?SEName=double-bottom-mount-aluminum-waste-containers&ProductID=262 It's installed in a cabinet with a 13" wide rough opening and a 5"-tall drawer above it, with an inset door/drawer. Why not a membership card or similar? They actually did go the membership route. I think that was one of the nails in their coffin. A lot of people despise membership cards. Coupons were the way to go and you could stack them for multiple items at a single purchase. If you understood basic math you could use the 15 and 30 dollar off coupons to get the best percentage off surpassing the 20 percent off ones. Personally I hate the trend to memberships and don't even get me started on the annoyance of digital coupons. Buy Buy Baby (another BB&B Co) is also closing. I think it's the last place that catered to new parents. We used to have so many places to shop when expecting. Kidde Worlds Toys R Us and many other shops with one stop shopping for the under 10 set. I'd have no idea where to buy a crib or a changing table these days. All we have left are Carter's Outlets for clothing.

I was telling GF about old heavy headboard I got from neighbor & painted,makes a lovely potting bench, when I went to GJ to find it ,it was missing so I looked for some other things put on around Aug to Nov. & they were missing also ,so some pages got erased. GJ forum mentioned it was having problems back then so some could be reposted if you posted back then. It happened on a lot of forums as I also had shown some Halloween items & bracelets made of buttons on Craft & Decorations forum. It's too bad because it was a time of great items being shown. Now if I like something I see I print it out by going to top of screen & click on file & print preview & scroll down to see what"page' item is on so you don't waste ink copying everything. If it's on page 3 change your setting to 3-3 & just that page will copy. Then put in a notebook of projects. That way you have it. It works for recipes & anything where pic comes up with post. If you have to go to Photo bucket or Flicker it would not work. I'm pretty computer challenged so DD has to post for me if I want to put pic on. So getting her over here long enough for me to learn it has been difficult. Anyway if you like idea copy so you have it! Jan

I do the same thing Sunnyca! I Print a LOT! LOL
I am putting thing in file folders according to what they are, ie 'trees', 'wreaths', 'bowling balls' 'totems'.

Of couse I am behind doing that, and lots of printed things are just in a box! But I still have them-on the computer, I can't always find them anyway! And then a lot does disappear.
Print preview is wonderful....

I sometimes right click on pictures and "save as" to a file. I have them in a file of other peoples ideas (especially Christmas) on my computer. That way they don't disappear and I don't have to print everything. Mostly I have saved pics of vintage Christmas ornaments from other places on the web that I want to copy, but it works on any picture. The important thing is not to use someone else's picture on a web site or in any commercial way. I usually name the pic by the origin or artist.

I think I posted my recycled junk in wrong place too....I recycle everything .I will have to look throw forms more . Angie
