is this the forum where people would post recycled things such as reclaimed wood projects etc?

I am always amazed at people taking things trash to others and reusing them to make beautiful things. perfect contrast to the world of buy new and many today

I just want to say I went through hell trying to find a decent self propelled, mulching mower after my 11-year old Craftsman finally died. It was a very reliable mower, but didn't cut very even and was a mediocre mulcher. It seems the newer mowers are all about bells & whistle features when all I required was an even cut, and good mulching, and a reasonable self-propelled drive. My neighbor has an older John Deere that he loves, but the new ones suck because they sold off the line to some lower quality process, or so I've heard and read. So I started with the Toro Recycler 20334 from HD, and it seemed to mulch ok until I pulled it backwards over the grass to cut (which is a common move while mowing in a confined or irregular shaped area) and saw it clumping when the grass wasn't even very tall. My crap Craftsman out did that, so back to the store and traded it in and upgraded (+$100) for a Honda HRR216VXA. Well that one seemed more solid and the motor had a nice dependable sound to it, BUT 1) engaging the blade killed the motor at least once, and 2) the bagging chamber behind the mulch plug collected way too much grass due to a poorly designed mulch plug that doesn't fit snugly. I even called Honda to see if they knew anything, and of course they acted like it was supposed to be that way. Right. Also it left a small trail of grass behind the right rear wheel when mulching which I wonder if the gaping hole around the mulch plug could somehow be contributing to that, who knows. Either way I wasn't satisfied with that Honda either so I cleaned it up and returned it for a refund and went to Westlake Hardware and for an extra $30 bought a 20092 Toro Super Recycler because I read the Supers have a better mulching system than the regular Recyclers. Well I can finally say it does surpass both of the other mowers I had and I am very satsified with it. I imagine the high-end Honda is just as good but it's $200 more, which seems out of line for a walk-behind mower, also I heard Honda's parts are too high in cost. Also Toro is a U.S. company here in the Midwest which should help with price and availability in theory. Anyway that Super is a mulch monster, I really like it a lot. I don't know if the standard Recycler is some secondary line made just for HD, but it sucks compared to the Super, IMO.

The S/R will do a much better job of mulching, it is possibly the best available. The bag should not fall off if properly installed.

I wish I'd seen those before we built. Merillat didn't have that option but we could have installed it ourselves. We have the double trash pullout for recyclables, but I forgot that CT has bottle deposit so instead of newspapers one gets used for soda cans. Trash is under the sink. But I may change out the 18" double trash pullout to pullout drawers and replace the LS in the corner with a 3-4 bin trash/recycle when we get new countertops in a few years! Does anybody know if you have to pull the countertop off to get these in, or is there a telescoping rod with a cotter pin that can just be pulled out? Also, the inside of my corner cabinet is curved - is that a problem for the bins?

This may sound counterintuitive, but my mother, who designed her kitchen and was 40 years ahead of her time (stations, zones, almost all drawers), but the trash pullout in the island across from the sink. It worked very well! For after-meal cleanup, dishes could be scraped of non-disposal stuff before it got to the sink, and without being in the way of anyone at the sink or dishwasher. During prep in the space between sink and cooktop, or on island, it was right handy. It seems odd, I know, but it worked. (Mind you, right now in my developer-built house,I am dealing with a trash perpendicular to the dishwasher, so you have to actually close the dishwasher to get to the trash, and vice versa. Really dumb.)

I was telling GF about old heavy headboard I got from neighbor & painted,makes a lovely potting bench, when I went to GJ to find it ,it was missing so I looked for some other things put on around Aug to Nov. & they were missing also ,so some pages got erased. GJ forum mentioned it was having problems back then so some could be reposted if you posted back then. It happened on a lot of forums as I also had shown some Halloween items & bracelets made of buttons on Craft & Decorations forum. It's too bad because it was a time of great items being shown. Now if I like something I see I print it out by going to top of screen & click on file & print preview & scroll down to see what"page' item is on so you don't waste ink copying everything. If it's on page 3 change your setting to 3-3 & just that page will copy. Then put in a notebook of projects. That way you have it. It works for recipes & anything where pic comes up with post. If you have to go to Photo bucket or Flicker it would not work. I'm pretty computer challenged so DD has to post for me if I want to put pic on. So getting her over here long enough for me to learn it has been difficult. Anyway if you like idea copy so you have it! Jan

I do the same thing Sunnyca! I Print a LOT! LOL
I am putting thing in file folders according to what they are, ie 'trees', 'wreaths', 'bowling balls' 'totems'.

Of couse I am behind doing that, and lots of printed things are just in a box! But I still have them-on the computer, I can't always find them anyway! And then a lot does disappear.
Print preview is wonderful....

I sometimes right click on pictures and "save as" to a file. I have them in a file of other peoples ideas (especially Christmas) on my computer. That way they don't disappear and I don't have to print everything. Mostly I have saved pics of vintage Christmas ornaments from other places on the web that I want to copy, but it works on any picture. The important thing is not to use someone else's picture on a web site or in any commercial way. I usually name the pic by the origin or artist.
