Thought I'd report back on germinating beans with a nitrate solution. (Only a third [8/24] of my beans planted in ground earlier in May had germinated). In the cell pack with Miracle Grow I planted 72 beans. Thirty one germinated, so 43%. The cells were too small, so that a couple of beans got their roots growing over the stem, so that they could not get up out of the soil. Pretty weird to see a bean with true leaves trapped in the pro-mix, coiled twice,yet not able to escape the roots. Those roots were partly above the soil. Also, some beans came up with oddly thin stems. (That was the case in the garden as well.) Quite a few had trouble completely splitting their seed coats even after their were well above the soil, so I gave them a little help with that. Tonight I planted out as many as I could. Will be interesting to see how many survive transplant. I left the weaklings in the cell packs to see if they will develop any more. I still need to plant out a lot more but I'm going to move on to my seed purchased for 2018. Got to get them in pronto.

Though a repeat from another site, this is what I did with a few: An old wooden framed window, a few sheets of glass, clear caulk and a glass cutter are the basic tools you will need. Simply remove the clear glass panes (if present) from the window. These will provide great templates for your colored glass. If there are no existing clear glass panels, a cardboard template will work wonders. If you purchased a multi-pane window, never assume all of the panes are the same size. Simply cut the stained glass to fit into the sections of the window. You would be amazed at how easy it is to cut glass, though I do suggest using a pistol grip cutter and not the typical cutter one can find at any hardware store. You can find easily find someone who has cut glass and will be happy to show you. My husband is actually the one who showed me, and on the second try I had it down pat. Simply cut the panels to fit the windows, use clear caulk to seal them in, and wa-la! Inexpensive first try at working with stained glass. Very simple, basic, easy to do and colorful! You can use all the same colored glass if you wish, or mix them up. I used various colors in one of my first projects, an assortment of various clear colors I had in the glass supply box. I have numerous thin strips of stained glass which I have in mind for another window created with these strips. In stripes. I'll simply cut small pieces of wood to go between the strips of glass. Though I have a few panes left to fill in (waiting for the right colors to show up at the craft store) this gives a basic idea of what I'm talking about. (copyright from another site, but this is my picture) Recently I found old wooden windows with many tiny windows, but have yet to begin that project. We live in the country, so this particular window set did not get the full treatment of sanding the windows, painting them, etc. I was going for the "Trash to treasure" feel. Tori,checked it out and it is a good project.I do have a question-would it be inside or out? If out would the wood window frames hold up? My potting area is under a roofover.I use a recycled picnic table with an old laundry tub thats on legs pushed up at one end to hold lots of potting soil.I root LOTs of cuttings.Pots are at hand under the table and water hose is handy.I keep all tools and supplies in metal or plastic containers at one end of the table.Everythings on hand.

Looks great , I want the tractor seats!! I told my DS to watch for 1 when he is out building bridges(like they'd be laying around) I do remember cow sculls, they used to be laying around from here to Vegas, bet you couldn't find 1 anywhere out there now!! They were bleached white as could be. Should have gotten 1, they looked great on GJ, someone had couple last month. Milks cans are nice too! Jan
