foodonastump...I read, re-read and read a third time the entire post, paying particular attention to the third paragraph. And no, I can see nothing that deserved responses such as I read. It seems to me that a mention of another forum and how much one appreciates the posters who contribute to it can not be taken as negative by anyone other than someone who is looking for a reason to be offended. It may be that you have a negative history with dcarch that I am unaware of, in which case I wonder why you bother to involve yourself in the topic begun by someone with whom you have experienced such unpleasantness? I'm sure it was not your intention to ruin the topic for everyone else, but that is turning out to be the result. I don't know who upset whom in some past topic thread, and I don't care. I am interested, though, in the idea of people making fun things out of throw away stuff. The soda bottle pots crack-ah-me-up! Gotta try some. One can only use so many hummingbird feeders. Oh boy, just what I need is another project.

There are many bargains at auctions, estate and yard sales, etc. I got several part-balls of wool (and other material) in a bag at one for $1.00 that I'll use during this winter to darn some heavy work socks, etc. And some others that I can't remember at the moment. Careful when you're at an auction, though ... don't get into a bidding war and end up paying about double what you would have paid in a store! That happens sometimes ... and a person feels really stupid when thinking what a dumb trick one played on one's self! The best deal, though, is shoopping at the roadside clearance place. I've picked up cupboards, shelves, wood, running shoes, etc. Plus a good crib blanket on the street in town last Sunday and some good sheets on the freeway ... in fact, I picked up a light jacket (CVS logo - and "Donnell"), almost new in northern Ohio on the freeway about 4 years ago - that I'm wearing at the moment, as a matter of fact: it's 60 degrees in here. There's a U.S. flag at the top of one sleeve, that I've never bothered to remove, though I can't qualify, being true-blue Canadian ... but my kids can, as they have dual citizenship, their late Mom having been an Iowan ... and daughter has worked in AZ for several recent years. Some folks on this thread got a good laugh about six years ago when I told how I found a good chesterfield a couple of blocks away, went to son's apt. downtown and pressed him into service to come out to carry the other end as I slowly drove home with one end in the back of the car, with the hatch open ... ... asking him several times whether I was driving too quickly. And he answered ... that I wasn't ... between puffs of breathing. I took a vanload of pop cans, most intact, when I helped a friend move a trailerload of scrap iron to the scrap metal dealer's about three years ago, yielding $90.00, most of them picked up on the roadside, at summer festivals, fall fairs and other joyous gatherings, when I took my son to be an entertainer. Plus quite a few dollsrs' worth on other occasions. And I've taken a bunch of beer cans and bottles, about 1/3 - 1/2 of them originating at a friend's house who likes to drink but has no vehicle, to the beer store, where they pay me 10 cents each for them, that has netted a number of dollars, as well. Being cheap - pays!! Enjoy your weekend, everyone. One of the perquisites of retirement is - every day is weekend! ole joyful ... thankful to be in good health at 80

Love all of it. I remember all of my aunts on mom's side had pumps in their kitchens & then heated big pots of water to wash dishes after the huge meals. 1 aunt lived to 109 yrs old & sliced off salami every day for lunch on her homemade bread & a little side of watermelon pickles & homemade raspberry jam. I used to go out & pick berries for her. Your door with garden message looks so good & inviting. You should repost these pics on Garden Junk forum. They would love looking at them & it's a busy forum. Check it out! Jan

OMG, I can't wait to find one. I have to pick my battles with my DH. He is 32,000+ days old and still doesn't know what is junk and NOT junk. If I find one, I will surely need to get my brother to pick it up for me. He will have to put it in his basement for me to work on (that's why God made brothers). I already have a spot for it in our dining room. But that means I will have to put my china cabinet in the room off the dining room. And, that means the DH's ugly "Man" desk will have to go upstairs in our bedroom (another reason God made brothers). I have the same veggie strainer and rack (have glasses in it now, but that will change) as you have and a few more oldies but goodies that are crying out for this stove to show off. Yes show off!!! How did you paint the door and leave the wording? I love the color just the way it is, and agree with a touch of red such as potholders, pepper shakers or whatever. Did you paint the inside? Do you use it for storage such as pots or pans? Let the hunt begin. I will definitely post pictures--hopefully someday. Here is a link that might be useful: My blog
