keeping the oak; what color for island?

We are coming to the final stretch, and are moving into our new home in 9 days.

As you may remember, it is a 1987 reverse ranch.

I have worked hard to de-formalize it and have painted the stained wood trim, the walls are deep gray, and the flooring will be a quartz colored carpet in the LR/DR.

The kitchen has very nice quality oak cabinets from "back in the day". I am currently planning on keeping the perimeter stained, just to be DONE for a while.

But we have put butcher block on the island counter (which you all know I love!), But the wood/wood is kind of like a woodgrain "denim tuxedo".

Since if I do paint the main cabinets, it will be the white trim color, what color would you recommend for the island cabinets, and what wall color for the paint?

Main counters will be porcelain tile in a very light creamy color, with black and tan accents in the BS,

Kitchen floors are also oak, in a color more brown than the cabinets.

All hardware is satin nickel.

I am not going to post pictures since I want your imaginative input.

Please show me pictures and ideas for this.

Thanks in advance, and I promise some pictures next weekend after the carpet and furniture is in.
