I just wanted to thank you all for the amazing advice you have given. I am extremely happy to report that all of the issues I have been dealing with have worked out great!

FSD is coming to the baby shower, and I have ordered her a Big Sister pin and tiara to wear, a Big Sister teddy bear, and matching bracelets for her and I with our initials to give her at the shower so she feels included. No one else will be bringing her presents. =)

MIL has agreed to give FDH custody of FSD, and the paperwork has already been sent to the courts and she will be moving in in June.

I have found a great counselor for FSD to start seeing this summer, and FDH supports it, and has also agreed to take parenting classes with me.

My relationship with my FMIL is getting better every day. We are learning to communicate more, and even had a wonderful hour long phone conversation this morning.

FSD and I had a long talk about the phone issue, and I bought her a little address book and put all of our numbers in it so she has them all. I am going to start doing more things with her and going the extra step to make sure she feels loved, secure, and included in our family.

All of you played a huge part in this amazing change because of your words of experience and wisdom, and I appreciate it so much! You made me see that I am a huge part of the problem in my relationship with FSD, and I need to make some big changes in order to make it work.

So again, you all are AWESOME!!! =)

I am so, so happy for you! Seeing a problem, asking for advice, and accepting suggestions and sometimes (gulp) criticism from complete strangers (albeit women who have been there, done that) can be very humbling, but rewarding too. Congrats on the results of your hard work.

You are a sweet lady and I hope you keep developing love and a good relationship with FSD. If it works out, you'll never regret the extra love you've brought into each other's lives. And I believe it will enhance and deepen your relationship with FDH and his ultimate respect for you.

Good for you. Much of what my father said stuck. I particularly liked cows having several stomach chambers so fewer weed seeds survived.

Kim, Apps are easy. I am not at all tech savvy but have a son who is, so when I need something he finds it for me and either downloads it or shows me how. There's tons of great weather apps out there, and lots of them send you warnings. Just yesterday, even though I kept saying "No" and declining the installation of Windows 10 (for months and months), it abruptly started downloading onto my laptop while I was typing a response here on GardenWeb. To make a long story short, I immediately shut down the computer and sent Chris (who was at work early, around 5 a.m., to work out in the gym before his shift started) a text. He told me what to do to foil Microsoft's efforts to shove Windows 10 down my throat, and sent me a link to a website that had a program to block the unwanted downloading of Windows 10 and to uninstall what they already had done, and then how to permanently block it. I followed the directions on the website and it worked! If I am not going to put up with an unwanted pest or weed in my garden, I certainly am not going to put up with a computer company trying to download an unwanted program onto my computer. And, without a tech savvy son, I probably would have been stuck with Windows 10 because I wouldn't have know what to do. Dawn

Wow! That looks great Peter! You really warmed up the space. I do tend to agree that the mantel pics are a bit high. Have you considered putting back the pic you had in the before pictures between the lanterns? That might fill the space nicely and you could leave your other pics where they are. Like this:
