Fly Pattie, Fly, lol

I have finally finished my mosaic pig. I made the armiture in Puerto Vallarta,I mosaiced it some bright colors and grouted it black. On the flight home it got a broken wing and leg. I fixed the armiture and decided to go with a new look. I did the wings in mirror, grouted it with some white Calamity gave me. I'll let it sit for a bit and then seal . I'll hang it from an arbor in my yard.

Here's a couple of pics of Pattie,

I'm thinking of painting the grout around the feet dark, and maybe the ears pink, eyes also. What do you think?

ROFL ------ How adorable !!!!!!! I think it would look cute with pink ears and maybe even some pink on his snout ! I used to use actual ladies blush for colors on cheeks when I painted - it works excellent and gives a softlook . It's also very durable - I never even sealed my projects with blush on them. Oh .....now that I know Pigs CAN Fly - I'm not going out without an umbrella *wink*

My big, fat envelope arrived today, and it is better than Christmas! I was in the middle of cooking when DH brought it in from the mailbox, and he wanted to open it. I let him look first on the condition he would not read me the info on each packet as he looked. I thank all of you who sent your special seeds for me and filled so many of my wishes. When Pigs Fly Bakery Six-Grain & Pumpkin Seed Bread

@gg33nyc This recipe isn't baked in the bread machine, so my guess is that it shouldn't be hard to adapt. It will help if you have a mixer with dough hook, but if you know how to knead by hand, it should be fine. Watch some videos if you don't. I'd suggest combine the liquid and sweet as it says in the first direction. Mix the dry in the main mixing bowl, and make a well (shape doesn't matter) as in the second direction, and add the yeast. Add the liquid gently onto the yeast, and stir lightly to make sure all the yeast is wet, then stir the mixture well to distribute everything. Knead until the dough comes together and forms a well stretched, glutinous lump—which is a standard baking instruction which means knead until it's done. This is where the inexperience could get you. The variables are how the instant yeast gets right to work, how well mixed the ingredients are, how efficiently you knead, and how much pre-kneading the bread machine did. This is also something best learned hands on. 5-10 minutes of good kneading is probably what you need, but the windowpane test doesn't work for seed breads. The poke method could, maybe should?, work. Checking out some videos can help. Kneading develops the gluten, which is what holds the bread up. The seeds want to make it fall down, so it's particularly important. Keep trying even if it's not perfect the first time. Your hands and eyes will learn how to see and feel the gluten development. Also, check some videos for how to draw and shape a loaf properly. There are a few different methods. The rest of the instructions are for making without a bread machine. Ovens differ, so keep an eye on it. You may find a different temperature, and/or time works best for your kitchen. This was my all time favorite song to sing to my children, grands, great grands and friend's kids. They loved it when you get to the "wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her" part. I always wiggled and jiggled and tickled their tummy, and of course they wriggled and squealed with delight. I don't know where I first heard it, and I learned it as "perhaps she'll die," and at the end it was, after a short suspenseful wait; "she died, of course." I often wake up with a song in my head; sometimes wonder why that particular song. Nice memory. Sue

Birds flying over....tons and tons of them

Our Robins usually show up around the end of January, early February. What they find to eat with all that snow on the ground makes me scratch my head. Saw one today hopping along the edge of the sidewalk probably looking for any worms dislodged by the heavy, wet, melting snow. Hope he had some luck. I once saw a sting of birds like that, thought they were never ending, but it didn't last for hours, more like 15 minutes. Your sighting must have been impressive!

I'll paint her some pretty pink cheeks, and ears. I guess she needs a necklace, and maybe an ankle bracelet. I'm off tommorow to visit my sister for a few days, so I won't get to her till later on in the week. I'll post another pic when she's dolled up.

Was out of town all day yesterday, and came back to an explosion of new stuff. Just getting caught up on reading. LOVE this pig, and I, too, think a little color would make her happy, and OH YES on the girlie jewelry. She's GOTTA have jewels. Outstanding job of repair. I know you must've been horrified to see the damage. I liked her before too. I hope to be working w/armatures soon to re-enforce what we learned.
