Thoughts on an information thread

Hi all-

What do you think about starting a thread that listed our basic (but still not *personal/identifying*) information. As we all know our perspectives are varied, and I think sometimes it's nice to have a better idea about who were "talking" to or who's "talking" to us. I think it would be great to have a thread that one could quickly "hop" to and be able to get a snapshot of the poster.

I was thinking that it would work like this:

Married (8 years-DH Divorced 13 years)

First marriage (If divorced, put that here w/how long)

StepS 18

StepD 17

BioS 5

What do you think? And should we add any other "stats"--think abou some of the things you wonder about a poster when reading.

THIS thread is for taking a "poll". If enough of us think this is a good idea, I'll start a new thread with a clear subject line and have the original post outline what the thread is for and that the only "follow-ups" should be postings of "stats".

Also, would one of the SC who posts here provide a "template" for SC "stats"....that is if you think this is a good idea! :)

nanzjade, the rose in the last picture is Heart o'Gold. It's a grandiflora rather than a climber, but does go through similar color changes as Joseph's Coat...pink & gold variations only, though (no red). HoG gets tall here...7 ft+ tall by end of season, but stays rather narrow at only around 2 1/2 feet wide. It isn't a thorny rose, but not completely thornless, either. The blooms themselves have long cutting stems and are wonderful in a vase. Here are a couple more pictures of it:

I think this FAQ is a great start, and I hope the project doesn't get scrapped - I've just started poking around in this specific forum and I wish it were already fleshed out. (Especially sections that give basics about the different families/genera/whatever make sense.) I only discovered the GardenWeb forums in late November or early December, and I've now read through dozens and dozens of threads (primarily in House Plants, but in some of the more specific forums, too), but this is the first thread I've seen anyone mention there even is a "FAQs" link in any forum. I hadn't noticed it myself because the FAQs link blended in with other things on the page :\ Having one place to refer to basics would be fantastic, especially if the "basics" provide links to discussions/other websites that go into greater detail. They don't compete with each other, they complement each other. It could make finding the details so much easier! I saw mention of a 5-1-1 (or 7-1-1?) mix recently, and tried to search the forums to get the details and found pages and pages referring to it before finally finding a recipe. I'm sure people looking for details on the gritty mix have the same frustration, unless someone links them to one of the threads where Al has described it. I've been bookmarking lots and lots and LOTS of threads related to various plants I keep, but most of what I need right now is pretty basic info, and I'd rather refer to one FAQ section than have to either ask basic questions people have probably answered a dozen times, or spend lots and lots of time reading lots of threads (or other websites) to find the one that actually provides the info I'm looking for. (This is not to say it replaces actual conversation, because there's benefit in asking for help/answering newcomer questions: having people provide reassurance, or deal with the exceptions to basics is something an FAQ or old thread can't do. I also do not regret having read so much here in search of basics - there is an incredible wealth of information in older discussions - but FAQs can be fantastic additional resources.)

OK - Here's mine -

Married 13 years - (2nd marriage for both)
StepS - 33 (yikes! Lived with us for ~18 months as an adult)
StepD - 26 (with daughter, 7)
BioS - 16 (mine; lives with BioDad and StepMom for last 3 years)
BioS - 11 (ours; autistic)
Age - mid 40's (that's close enough!)
My EvilEx - (narcisisstic personality disorder - damaged goods, manipulative)
StepMom - (Married to EvilEx for 4 years. Thank goodness for her and I wish her well!)
DH's Ex - Possible borderline; probable alcoholic. (Makes me look good to the SKids)

This is my first marriage his 3rd (eeks) (18 months)

I was in a relationiship for 15 years. He left for TOW he is still with her (7 yrs). When he left I didn't know whether to send her a thank you card or sympathy card. I am over it now :). We get along better now than ever.

I have 2 children
Daughter 22 lives on her own.
Son 15 lives with BD and SM.

Hubby has 4 children

First wife 1 Daughter
-BM abandoned daughter when she was 4 years old. Hasn't heard from her mother since she was 8. (BM drug and alchohol problems)

Second wife 3 children
(most of my posts are about her and the 11 yr old)
son 11, Son 9, daughter 8

We have his 4 children full-time. My son visits on the weekends. I am a SAHSM. aka. maid, cook, nanny, babysitter, chauffuer, referee, therapist.

I am a child of divorce...but no step-parents. In my parents divorce the children got custody of the house. My parents moved in and out on a weekly basis they shared an apartment and a house with 5 children. Seven years after my parents divorced they got back together. My father was given 6 weeks to live and my mother said come live with us he survived another 2 years.
