I just had a raised garden set up in the yard..
3 beds and the trellis and as this is being built out of really sturdy new wood, I'm looking at it, thinking...
sure would look cool, if the sides were mosaiced!

it isn't set just as it will be cuz I want to have a foundation of cinder blocks under all the wood frames.
I can't in no way do such a project as that..but I sure could paint it funky designs, after it's all set in place..as the season gets rolling.
I'm taking pictures..before, getting ready, this morning and just as soon as the crew was done.

this is something that originated about 10 years ago, by a guy in his senior year in college.
he started what was then called the 'kitchen garden project'..to provide a garden for senior and low income families to help sustain their home for fresh food, throughout the spring and summer season.

it's a huge deal for businesses to contribute to..building supplies, seeds, compost and all other necessary supplies.
several at-risk teens work at the model garden site, for the season and get paid for their help.

that's what's going to be my other time consuming effort, this year..I can always be nipping dishes, while I sit in the shade of the afternoons and evenings, after gardening in the day...

I'm guessing it's going to be set in place and planted this week up and coming.

I've been working on and off on my bowl for weeks.
I get bored with the fill in stuff. So I made this funky coffee pot during breaks. I glued 250 bb's on it with tweezers........won't do that again for a while!

But it was kinda fun to play with.

Well, after my veggie bin post, I had to go to work. So, as far as I'm concerned, I haven't been doing anything fun LOL. Now I am at lunch, and I can at least visit with you guys.

Tomorow, I have to put my natural blonde highlights back in ( and get rid of this unnatural grey ROFL). Hopefully I can get to a couple TS close by. They are predicting 2-4" of snow, so that will depend on how the roads are ***sigh**

Hazie, that is myndblowing. It looks middle eastern! What did you use for the silver "bubble" parts? I think they really integrate the mosaic to the original piece.

it's 75 here in south texas and i have been buying plants..in the summer they will burnup.should soder my first stained glass piece thurs,weighed my bowl this morning with me and it weighed 9 lbs....bought a buda head today and a frog,cat,birds to mosaic...gonna add them to all the other stuff in my studio...i could open a store lol!

Hazie, I like how your coffee pot turned out. Funny you posted about the BBs, I was out hitting the thrift stores with my Mom & my Aunt today & in the parking lot there were some BBs on the ground. I walked past them, but Mom picked the up & said I could use them in a mosaic! There were only 10 or so, so I guess I can't go too crazy with them. BTW I didn't find anything at the 5 thrift stores we went to. The prices were way to high for most of the junk. The thrift stores here in Boca Raton think very highly of themselves!

Hey Hazie..Love the teapot... I am working on a shabby victorian shoe, a birdhouse and my bowl. Need to straighten up my basement and am trying to get out and clean up my garden...

I'm not doing anything, I am sick with a rotten cold. Nose is all stuffed up, can't breathe. You all post away so I can live vicariously through you. Very nice teapot...more more more.

Here's a tip to get rid of the tweezers.

Take a pencil and stick a blob or blu-tac or fun-tack (or whatever you call it in your area) on the unsharpened end of the pencil.

The fun-tack/blu-tac will allow you to pick up and place small things like bb's or pearls or teeny triangles or china shards without the use of the tweezers.

Tweezers make my hand cramp after minimal use so this works very nicely as a substitute.

Hazie - your coffe pot turned out beautiful. 250 BB's put on with tweezers....OMG... But what a great idea that was - they look great. The layout of the whole piece is just beautiful.

I finished my frame and gave it away (see post) Then I sat here all last evening trying to think of something around here to mosaic!!!! Got to go get some stuff to mosaic... My problem is I want to work on things I can use and keep.

Becky, the garden project sounds really interesting. Hope you will post photos as it progresses. You mentioned putting mosaid on the sides. Big project. Did you ever see the "gray ladies" done by a woman well known for big projects? They are huge women who of course sit outside...huge! A lot of grout or gray cement, with clothing made of colorful ceramics. The artist was featured in a magazine several years ago...southern living maybe. I just googled for info, but didn't find anything.

BTW, when someone has time, please lead me to the directions for posting a photo with a forum message. I have just joined this forum and didn't find the directions yet.

Love that teapot! I'm bored too...trying to come up with a plan for a birdbath as a gift. I find that if I stare at it for about a week an idea will hit! I don't have time to mosaic during the week but I usually keep a project where I can see it so I can decide what I want to do.

Love the teapot also! Very unique, mixing old worldish silver with bright colors. All I'm doing is trying to get inspiration and get going on something. I'm alternately cleaning mouse poop out of glass I was given and looking at dmoz.org/Arts/Crafts/Mosaics/.

I am totally work-bogged right now. No time for much of anything. I shouldn't even be here. nope.

I don't care for it much, and have no idea what to do with it! but it was really fun getting out of my relm and playing with. It wasn't planned..so unlike me....I had a few drinks and let my hands decide! probably won't do that again!hahaha...but it was fun to do!

I LOVE your coffeepot, HAZIE. Doncha wanna do a tray, cream/sugar to make it a unit???? I can see the whole thing on your kitchen table or d.r. table or on a table in any corner in your house - or on a pedestal in the garden or porch.

Nicethyme.....my reason for doing it was for the gallery,
and I just don't like it enough to try to sell it. I bought it for that purpose..........and don't like it enough, and don't think it represents my work well enough to try to take it in as my first piece. It was fun to do....but I don't like much about it! So that really sucks! Maybe
like slow said with the whole set......it might be something I want to keep........ or sell.

I have an antique teapot to play with too......
gonna go a totally diffent way with that!....we'll

maybe for your first china you should consider those faux tiles - it could alleviate the headache of strange thicknesses and footers. I've been considering it too.

LOL Hazie. I agree with nicethyme, if I loved it, I couldn't sell it!!

When you think of selling, just remember, everyone has different taste, so someone else may love it. Now if the QUALITY is not up to your standards, that's different. But, I can't imagine a poor quality piece coming from you!!

I think a set would be a great idea though!!

I've been working on a project for the last two whole days. Still have another day to go on it. My inspiration came from the "Teesha Moore Wannabe" in the album ROSIE made of the P.V. trip. I'm loving it so much I haven't even grouted my workshop projects, and this piece isn't EVEN a mosaic.
