I think DH deserves a medal for continuing on after his injury, you found a keeper there.

I think with the charcoal tile white might be nice, but pix would definitely help.

Ok, I might be a bit confused now. Are these old pictures of your bathroom? Will you be replacing this vanity? It looks too nice to replace. Love the floor too!
Just incase I'm going to post some pictures of our master bath. They're old. I so need to take new ones, but you can see the stained cabinets with dark floors. Ours are black/charcoal marble. The walls are Ralph Lauren Candlelight in a silver something. Forgot the full name. You can no longer get it though. It's pretty much true in color in the second photo.

for me white cabs would be too much white with the fixtures being white.
those cabs look nice - with some new doors. flat/flush doors. i don't like those archy things - they date it i think. new sinks, counter top...

you could use those and restain them or paint them. how about charcoal cabs? grey? maybe they wouldn't be bad in white if glazed? then some color on the counter top? grey/blk/wht combo granite?

If you do use wood, then I would use a dark wood for the vanity. However, that might look modern now, and dated sooner.

I like your idea of the shaker style doors. I think it would look great white-- very clean, and then add color with the walls, shower curtain, WT if you have a window, and other accessories. I would stick to a white counter, too . . .then you really can change the look as you want with all of the easy-to-change elements of the room (paint, accessories) to keep it looking fresh. You won't be locked into anything!

justgotabm, sorry for the confusion. The pics are the room now, in mid reno.

The cabinets are going, in fact they were gone but had to be reinstalled to get us through the last 4 months. It is a little too long and the inside had to be cut up to rehook up. The new shower is larger than the last and bumped the vanity over so it doesn't fit right. And I don't really like the style.

Idea #1 Vanity and cabinet shaker style, walnut colored wood (possibly maple), Dark counter, (maybe blue pearl granite, or basalt slate formica), gray blue walls, lots of pot lights to brighten it up. More charcol tiles around the tub, a wood apron to match the cabinets. Maybe a sparkly light fixture to make it pretty. Would this be too dark?

Idea #2 vanity style the same but in linen white, add wainscotting around room, and then add your ideas.

I have glass doors on the shower so a shower curtain is out. The window is high along the end wall. It is about 8 ' long by about 2' high. This prevents anyone from seeing in but still lets in the light. I can put a colorful WT on it but want something that doesn't shut out too much light. Any ideas on that would be great.

I think idea #2 is going to carry you through many years. Idea #1 sounds pretty, but is going to look dated fast.

I think I would look for a deeper wood tone for the cabinets. White might end up feeling very sterile with all the white fixtures and grey floor. A rich mahogany could be very nice, especially with the blue/grey tones in the room for the walls, counter, etc. For some reason, perhaps light reflection, the tile reads with just a bit of pink undertones in it in some places. The mahogany would work well with that. Pewter hardware would be pretty.

I am guessing you will stain the wood trim around the window to match?

If you are keeping the plate mirror, you might consider framing it out in the same wood tone as the cabinet.

Looks like it is going to be a very nice room when all is complete. Kudos to you and your DH for your hard work and determination.

I would put in Ivory or some sort of off white for anything "wood" in the room. The fixtures are white and you need to soften it up and not make the room "all white". The Charcoal floors are great. Ivory and Charcoal will make great neutrals that can be accessorized with just about anything.

Is it possible to take back the tub faucet set? They are very Modern, and a set in Nickel with some classic styling would really make the tub seem elegant. Even if they can't be returned it might be better to bit the bullet and put in something different if it is in the budget. The current faucet set is nice on it's own for the right setting, but you say you do not want a Modern look and this will throw things off especially if you are going with Shaker styling in the room.

dilly dally, The tub taps are being replaced, those are the old ones, the tub itself remains but the trim around it will be replaced with charcol tile.

The old sink, taps and vanity will be gone.

I have to keep the toilet, charcol tile, new stand up shower(white with glass doors). I can chose new for the rest.

les 917, mahogony, that just might be what I need, I was trying to get away from oak. The mirror did have a trim around and will be replaced to match the new cabinet.

I am so sorry to all for the confussion between the old and new. I was trying to not clutter my post with too many words but have everyone wondering what is happening. I don't know why I am so indesisive on this bathroom,but I just can't picture anything in this room. I just keep flipping back and forth, and we need to just get it done, but I don't know what to do.
