Got the camera to work and finished these today, well...I still have all of the unpainted eggs in the basket to finish.

Oh, Belle, they are just lovely and so is the tin basket you have them in. You did a wonderful job painting all those little details. I love them. Luvs

Belle, these are adorable! You've done a fantastic job painting on these eggs. The roses on the tin basket looks wonderful. Your details are so well done as always.

Here's a basket of eggs I used on my Easter tablescape last year if your looking for more ideas. These are decals but could be painted on.

Congratulations Roberta! it sounds very exciting. How many chickens do you have? Are you going to wash all the eggs? Where are you going to sell them? I found myself this summer rinsing the eggs and washing some that were a bit dirty. Usually I only wash the ones that look a little dirty since I want to preserve the "bloom" but with the eggs in the heat this summer I didn't want to take a chance. Once the weather cools I will go back to not washing the clean looking ones. The real dirty ones go into the dog bowl. Unfortunately we do have a young pullet that poops in the nesting boxes. She is my one chicken that was hand raised indoors due to her younger age and then "integrated" to the outdoor group. She sleeps in the nest boxes hence the mess but my hope is once she starts laying she'll get the hint it's not a bathroom facility! I'm so glad that your chicken experience has been so good, my coops didn't smell much until I got my ducks! the water catcher is a real stink tank, which reminds me, I need to get on dh about building them their own pad! Vintage egg gathering basket?

Hello. I came here looking for info and saw this basket post... I am a weaver so can tell you it's a flat-bottom ribbed (Appalachian style) basket with what appears to be a wooden lid indicative of a picnic basket. It does not appear to be old to me -- in fact, the shine on the weavers makes me think it's reed that's been coated with something (like polyurethane) or that it was woven with artificial materials (i.e., plastic).

Karen, opps, we must of been typing at the same time. Sweet picture, made me bust out loud laughing. TJ is #252/2000 so there is alot like her out there. Luvs, DD does like to shop and then watch me smile. I'd like to think she inherited this from me.LOL OA, are you planning on sharing with us how your using the poem? The bunny has pink tulips and green stems painted on 'her'. Creek, my heart is still sad after reading your post about DD tonight. Hang in there and know we are all praying for you and yours. Jane, I don't think I'm much of an Energizer Bunny any more. Seems like I require more rest than I use to. I haven't had time to do any more decorating but will try to share a few more pictures of what I've decorated this weekend. Will miss your wonderful Easter table and decor this year for sure. Candy, it's so amazing how the enablers here have helped us increase our flatware as well as dishes and decor. I tell myself no more until I go shopping again.Darn It's fun to match flatware on our tables tho, don't you think? I will try to get more pictures taken and posted. Can't believe how time flies. Happy Easter friends :) Kgal, what do Kentucky citizens eat at Easter? I loved your Easter decorations, they look so countryside! And I love countryside style (that's why I live in the countryside of Belgium, lol). my mom has a little problem: she's wealthy but doesn't spend a red cent more than necessary, never. For instance, she only visits me four time a year because I live 45 km away from her, and she doesn't want to spend money on gasoil... She's known for the fact, lol and we all love her as she is. At this moment, the world entered a recession era, especially Belgium that has been without government for more than six months; which means that the prices have been increased to much that "the life is hard to live"... So, my mom decided that she'll come but takes my sister, her son, my grandmother, to split fuel costs and she thought that by cooking spaghetti bolognese for 7 people I'll spend less money. But, while I'm not wealthy at all, I stick with our traditions so, we'll eat a leg of lamb (lamb is the most expensive meat here but I've found a store that sells lamb with a great discount). Regarding the Belgian politic, our new government becomes effective today, and it was done specifically because we celebrate Easter: people will say nothing because a party that had not been elected is one of them. Karen, I also love the cartons with candles and gave a carton to each woman in my family with perfumed candles; they thought that they were eggs and have been a bit disappointed at first sight, lol. Rose, hearing from your traditions, arts and crafts is also addictive, lol. Do you plan to come to visit your DH's cousins in Belgium one day? Or maybe you already did... OK, I understand that... since it rains every day of the year, you prefer to spend your holidays home, lol. No, I'm joking, sometimes, the sun shines here too, like today, for instance. Phonegirl, well, my ex-m-i-l - who didn't like me at all - always said that I was generous and that I gave to the others what I can't allow to myself. In 11 years, it's the only kind comment she made about me. When she has been at the hospital, I called twice a day every day to have news about her health and she told me that while she didn't like me she loved my son so much and would like to see him; which was impossible because little children were forbidden in this section. Some days later, when I called the hospital, I learned that she died. I brought my son to the funeral although he had not been "invited". She wanted to see her grand son a last time... I love to give and I know how well you feel when you give something but, like Karen, I think that it's a question of wisdom.

Punk....Your eggs and basket are beautiful! Are the eggs porcelain? Wish I could and I would underline the word "could" paint flowers like those....I am trying!

My vines are just OK but I do have gaps where I should have moved my roses closer together. And why do my practice roses look better than these on the basket? But it was a new experience in painting and I like how it looks on my old sewing machine cabinet.

Belle, I'm just doing a little reading and catchin up this morning. (Yes, I need to be working on the yard and painting my patio posts--but just haven't had much time to be on here for so long!)

You are much too hard on yourself. I love your basket and the way the flowers look so soft and "cottage" feeling. Just perfect for Spring. And the eggs! What a lot of small details on each one of them. Love the hearts and the "grid"--and your painted lines are great. I have such a hard time making "fine" lines--just never seem to have consistent pressure so some look right and others are too thick. You are so brave to do all these tiny strokes and it's turning out so pretty--keep at it gal. ;o)

Punk, I don't remember seeing your gorgeous eggs. If you hadn't told us, I'd have thought you painted them. They are lovely.

Love your eggs! You paint such fine details, they are just lovely.

I have trouble with fine lines too, Luvs, maybe that is why I stuck with large canvases for so long.:) Trying harder for small canvases now. Don't think I will ever match Belle!

You all are just to kind! And remember I am in charge of the camera and the subjects....like I didn't put the best side out! Of course I did! But, I finally got it into my head that anyone looking at anything we paint isn't looking for the lines that are to close together or a little jiggly, they are looking at the overall results. And that's a good thing for me. While tracing, I now find that I can't follow the line as well as I did a year ago....tooooo bad! I'm doing it anyway!

Calirose.....I love detailing! It's a problem for me because I over do the details, as I over shade. I also like doing small things, flowers, etc., because I like details. All of those little stitches we use to add around everything...love doing it! I once made a birdhouse that looked like a school house, loved putting the ruler lines around the roof and bottom.

Back to painting more eggs! My DD wants a set so I am doing an exchange, my eggs for her Turkey Salad....it is so good!

Belle! Your eggs are fantastic! Great job. You picked just the right things to paint on them. I was looking thru spring pictures online the other day and ran across some eggs displayed on candlesticks. Thought it was a really great way to show off each egg. I'll see if I can find a picture....

Ok these aren't the ones I saw, but you get the idea. The ones I saw were not painted quite so colorfully and they had a little nest or something between the candlestick and the egg, but like I said...you get the idea. Thought it would be another cute way to display them if you had different sized candlesticks. Again! Great job...your efforts really paid off! ~Anj

Oh! Anj! I get the idea! Simply Super! I can do the candle sticks the same basic color of the eggs and add touches of other color on each egg, even a small rose .......great idea!
