Almost done with crosses

This one is going to Catholic HS auction next week (school colors blue and silver gray). I'm calling it a graduation cross, I will put Class of 1978 on the back. It will have gray grout.

The girl and boy crosses are going to my Church auction in March. Can't decide on grout, white or black w/gold wash???

Oh, they all look so good. I still think about the other cross you did for your DD. I LOVED that black grout with the gold wash. I'm still planning on trying that someday!

Oh my, rafor...I don't know where to begin...because I found something I loved in each single pic! All those mantles! WOW! & you've decorated them w/such style...I would like to say 'simple' but people sometimes don't like that word...cause all the WORK of decorating in that style is NOT simple! That 1st pic of DR mantle! Wow! Gorgeous! Candlelight & a bit of pine garland (I have some of the same) & the crystal holders & beautiful ornies...all of it looks elegant! & that very beautiful fireplace w/screen 'thingy' in front...love it! Then, you piano...love those big silver letters you used...looks great! & all the pretties you've added...that tall finial tree topper & also I see a 'totem!' Santa's galore...on that kitchen mantle...this one is probably a fav for me...love the color & the wire basket of ornies & it just SHOUTS, "Christmas Time!" Plus all the copper pots hanging there & that awesome 'ornie' clock! Love how you used the repetition of circles ...all the bright colors! Ohhh, everything! And that mirror w/the snowflake...I can't remember if you've ever shared that before ...is it etched or added on??? Beautiful! The hanging ribbon w/ornies in front of the windows...WOW! Festive! Ok, I'm rattling...I just think you did a great job! & adding your RL tree & garland will make it even more festive! HA = that's funny "buildinghome". We had zero problems, not one tiny hitch. Yet the home started off at $240K and we kept adding little things. Ended up at $253K. Little things add up. Double the size of the deck, better appliances, better furnace (make sure you get a good furnace and not cheap builders furnace). Upgrade from a cheap Lennox gas fireplace (a true builders box - run away if you can) to a Mendota. Make sure the water heater is not sitting on the floor (rust). Make sure you have a regular door in the garage so you will not have to open the big door all the time. 12x14 foot deck is too small for real use, we doubled the size and because we face south we used wood and not composite with gets REAL hot in summer. If you can get an extra foot of overhang do it. Good for shade and run off. If you are on a hill make sure the garage is on the downhill side of the house. Make sure you have windows on all four sides. I'm surprised to see so many spec homes with no windows in the sides! Wash tub in the laundry room is a must! Outdoor faucets, put them higher up so you do not have to crawl on the ground to hook up the hose. If you are on a budget, get the expensive lights for the living areas and go cheap in the bathrooms and other areas. Then once you get back on your feet buy the good lights for the bathrooms. Paint everything neutral until you see how the light falls in the house. Don't go fancy YET! We would also build in a heartbeat . . . . . if we had too! Hi gang: Well I have been out of town for a few days and believe it or not between the rain and being out of town, I have yet to take my first swim. The kids on the other hand have to be extracted with great force at the end of the day. My sons party went as planned, one short rain shower, but otherwise great. The water is now fairly balanced, they started the polaris (thank goodness..the dust was insane!), they plan on starting up the salt system in about a week. birdbath, I see you have been absent also....must be living in that water....thank you for the compliment, but yours is still the coolest pool I have ever seen. Moo....thanks....we are planning to build up the area behind the waterfall, make it into a berm with plantings and lots of color. We are also going to use river stones in that area....and behind that will be the completed extension of the wall. Should be starting that in the next 2-3 weeks. Smb....agreed our colors do look alike, it still amazes me how it changes throughout the day. I think we ended up somewhere between midnight blue and tahoe blue. Thank you, love yours also...are you getting to swim or does it still belong exclusively to the puppy ;) Well, I have the weekend off...so I think today will be first swim...its 89 out there and the water has warmed up to about 82....here are the pics in full sunlight for Birdbath. oops...heres the waterfall on....

Afineman--we got a Modernaire PS 11 (42 x 24). We were able to vent it outside. The hood is beautiful and effective. It is a bit noisy which I suspect is because we had to use an 8" air duct rather than the recommended 10" duct. We had a column in the way so be had no choice. Hydragea--we find that we have plenty of light. We did two pendants down the middle with undercabinet LED lights. The room is also open to the dining room so that probably helps too. I love my walnut cabinets more than I can express. I could stare at them for hours. They are so warm and homey. Even if the kitchen could be brighter if i had done white cabinets, I would never trade the walnut for white. A2--nice to hear from you. I was in Ann Arbor the weekend before last for my 30 year law school reunion. Thank goodness it wasn't this past weekend!!!!! I've been riding a lot too. We did a bike trip to Provence in July. Got a new bike too which I am really loving. How is your bathroom coming?

BEAUTIFUL!!! I love them all but espeacially the stylized first one. agree on the gold wash over black, since you did those 1st 2 I couldn't imagine anything else!

Crystal, Great job and please keep us posted as to how they do at the auctions. Every year, I donate something to my grandsons school's annual dinner auction. So am always interested in what an item might bring in. Several years ago, I mosaiced a garden bench and it sold for $320. This is a wonderful way to "give back". I hope your crosses bring top dollar!

Very nice. I love them all, and think black with gold wash grout will be beautiful on the boy and girl crosses. Please make sure you post after you grout!

Since they look so good right now, I think black with gold grout. I really like the shape of the 1978 one. Where do you find these?

I grouted last night and the gray grout on the graduation cross is a @&$*^@! mess!!! :( I hope to try and save it tonight! The mirror edges are sharp! The gray grout didn't feel the same as the black grout same manufacturer...I don't know...just pissed off.
