Comments (4)charlsie, Thanks for the heads up. I am Charlotte born and raised, but have lived in Raliegh since college oh so mny years ago. We do have a frost warning tonight, but no snow and a very warm weekend coming. It is going to get near freezing again some time next week. That's NC weather, always has been. I have my plants protected so I'm not worried about anything that I am planting. Sinfonian, Yes it is ambitious, but I have to prove to my dh that the sfg works so that he can let me have more space next year, or maybe later in the year. He is the one that got me my 4 brand named SWCs. because I made my own out of some pots from Wal mart that I modified in 2007. Thanks for the info on the trellis crowding. I figured as much, but I'm hoping that by making two trellises, I can at least cut done on the confusion. You are right with your planting counts 8-2-1-1 is the max for each space. I was hoping that by pairing the peas (may not be 8 plants) with the cantelope and the cukes with the watermelon, that I could cut down on too much confusion. As for my SWCs, I LOVE them, but they do not hold enough. I had them way over crowded last year. If you think my trellis will be crowded this year, you should have seen me last year. I had cantelope, watermelon (bust), cukes, zuchinni, bush beans all in one SWC. In another, I had 3 bell peppers, Okra, Eggplant, cukes, cantelope, and cabbage. Each one was loaded to the hilt. They all produced fine, but I know that they could have all done better had they been more spaced out. I like fresh vegetables, and I love growing them. If I can get this to work half as well as the pictures I see on the Internet and on Mel's site, then I will be hooked and more boxes will go up in the yard. Okay, I am rambling again, back to work for me....See MoreNew bathroom almost done
Comments (46)Ah...sweeby...so nice to see this thread again. I came by to ask a question, actually: how are you feeling about the *fixed* showerhead from HR? I'm considering getting a tub/shower set from them for DD's bathroom and I want to know about how they handle regular water pressure. It would be the cloudburst one--similar to yours in that I think it's all straight down, but only along some rays from the center, not a full field of water. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks again for sharing this beautiful room and I hope you're still enjoying it as much as you were earlier....See MoreNow, you're done-what do you wish you had known while planning?
Comments (68)My opinion on pot fillers. If the pot is too heavy to carry to the stove when the water is cold, I sure don't want to carry it to the sink when the water is boiling. For the effort/cost I don't need one. YMMV, though. I wish I had run my layout by gardenweb members for feedback. I wish I would have thought about a pull out cutting board. I haven't had one for about 30 years and had adapted. Would really like to have one again. The matt white Formica shows every speck of everything! Good, because I can wipe it off right away. Bad because if I haven't wiped it off right away everyone can see it. I live on a gravel road. I rarely use my a/c. Windows are open all the time. The FX stuff I originally planned might have been a better choice. Maybe next time. I do like the look of the white, though. I really hate my upper diagonals but I also hate the blind corner cabs. The more complicated pull down/out doesn't appeal to me. Problem still not solved. I don't like what I have but I don't like the other choices. I thought and thought about this and only came up with the three "I wishes", so all in all, my kitchen turned out pretty good. I am more than delighted to have the peninsula gone and every time I think about my new kitchen I suspect my face has the orgasm expression....See MoreOur bathroom is done! Comments (19)I agree with bluekitobsessed - unless you need it for privacy I like the uncovered windows. Otherwise, I agree with you on the bamboo - that would continue the lovely peaceful feel you have created without detracting too much from the simplicity that makes it feel so soothing. I love everything about your room - beautiful job....See Morebrutuses
