Before/During pics

Thought I'd post a link for some pics for those interested in "in progress" views.

Our house was built in 1980, purchased by us in 1993. We've made extensive changes to the home, but the ONLY thing done in the kitchen was to paint the old, dark brown cabinest a lighter cornflower blue, and appliances back in 1993.

We worked with a designer at HD, went with Kraftmaid Cherry cabinets with a Sonoma finish.

The appliances are Jenn Aire frig and dishwasher, Fratelli Onofri Evolution range, Cavelier Euro 800cfm halogen 6speed vent, Vinotemp wine frig, and Sky Blue granite (which I don't think is blue, buy she does :) )

Oooooooooooh! The Fratelli looks gorgeous! Would be interested in hearing about your install/use experience. I'm "committed" to the Evolution because that's what I told the cabinet guy to build for, but I'm still too nervous to buy it. :)

This will be the first time I've installed a duel-fuel and wondering if an unknown Italian brand is what I should do my experimenting on. I've got a little while to procrastinate since I am still finalizing the cabinet layout.

Holy cow you have a lot of energy! I am exhausted after tilling and replanting a 9x32 bed! Your place looks fantatsic, and having a plan really helps, doesn;t it? A plan helps me stay focused on one thing at a time and helps me get the big stuff done first so I don;t have to redo. Your place looks fabulous, make sure and post pics of your native woodland garden when it's done! (I'm working on mine now...)

Absolutely inspiring!!!! I can't believe how much larger it looks with all the plantings, paths and "bones". It makes me feel like "I can do it" when I get inspired to take on a job that just seems too big. I just love everything about it. You should pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. Carol

Oh no! That's not fun. You don't need DH to fix it, you can do it! Leaks are often just degraded O-rings, which do eventually happen as they are rubber. I bet if you call Kohler support they can walk you through taking the handle off and finding the problem. It's not hard, and there are only so many parts in there. They may even send the part free. You can get a new sprayer on Amazon for like $22 or something. Should be a snap to replace if they won't send you a new one free. I did read a lot of reports of the plastic snapping like that eventually, but I decided it was an easy enough thing to swap out if I ever needed to, and it's not unusual for something used that much to give like that. Not sure about the hose not retracting, but I'd take a peak underneath and see if the weight is in the right place. It may just need to be adjusted. Mine looks like a plastic tie off keeps it from going too low, my guess is over time that may wiggle it's way too low. Kohler support could probably help with these pretty quickly. Needed to add: if you need to lubricate anything in this process, use it sparingly. I learned the hard way that more lubricant doesn't help. We had a lever that wouldn't stay put for weeks after I went overboard with the lubricant, and I was too lazy to take it all back apart to wipe it off. cookin jim... how high above your range is the vent hood? I thought is was suppose to be 30" but to my untrained eye yours looks higher?

I love watching a kitchen come together. What kind of hardware are you going with on those beautiful cabs?

Another who will be interested in the reports of the range.

I think there is a little invoked rule that when you mention something like chicken and dumplings, you need to follow up with the recipe! Its a very gray day here and that sounds great.

The hood is exactly 30" above the range...nice eye there. I ordered a 36" X 30" stainless backsplash, so that fits perfectly between the Fratelli and the vent. The backsplash also has a flip down "warming tray" that will be installed once the backsplash is permanently mounted.

Hardware for the cabinets is a "euro-bar pull" style, with varying sizes.

Before we started, I think there were 8 lights in the kitchen, and 6 of them were track lights. If we count under/inside cab lights now, I think we're up to about 39...

We have three major milestones coming up.

1) This week the cabinets get completed.
2) This week all of the crown molding gets installed
3) May 23rd the granite gets installed.

Things I'll redo/correct after the dust settles down, so to speak:
1) Outlets/dimmers/switches. Didn't think about that before we got the quote. I'll be replacing everything with styles that we like. Not too worried about that, as it's a small part of the electrical quote.
2) Music source. I'm putting 2 pairs of Polk Audio ceiling speakers in (had Sparky run the speaker wire while he was up in the cieling anyway) but I haven't decided what to drive them with yet. I can run them to the home theater, but I may go with a Sonos wireless music system...dunno yet.
3) Paint. As I mentioned in another post, we want to wait until we can see the whole picture in our own light before we decide on colors. I've toyed with doing a copper backsplash as contrast to the stainless appliances...jury's still out. We don't want to do anything that's "busy" for a backsplash, because the stone is going to be very dramatic, so don't want things fighting each other.

Jim-I'm thrilled you posted as I'm about to order the Fratelli Evolution in Anthracite as well...it looks gorgeous.
...And am contemplating my ceiling speaker options with hubby as we speak...so am curious about your updates/decisions in that regard too.

It's all coming together so nicely...congrats!
