I'm pretty sure I have Bosc pear in my living room. I really like the color but it is a deep, dark color. I have a mahogany pool table in the room with red/gold striped chairs. I think it looks nice but that has to be the look you are going for in your kitchen.

Well I painted one whole wall Rye and I don't think it's what I'm looking for...I did the patch test on one wall but the wall I painted is opposite it and it looks different. It's funny how on the one wall I thought I would like it but thought it needed to be lighter but when I painted painted the opposite wall, I didn't think it had enough color to it. It a pretty color but it's hard to describe--I keep looking at it and can't figure out how do describe it. It's not gold but it's not tan...the only thing I can desribe it as it looks on the one wall is like dijon mustard...not yellowy that weird dijon color.. So I'm still looking at paint color strips on the wall trying to figure out what is going to be my next try. I'm comparing the different colors that haven't work so I don't keep the making the same mistake over and over... I'll let you know when I get some more sample on the wall. Campground is one of the colors I'm considering...Maybe Campground on the walls I want more color and them Warm Muffin which is one color up from Campground for the other walls.

kmcg is right! You are using reds with a blue undertone that don't work with the yellow undertone of the woods and the colors in adjoining rooms. How do you feel about a red that leans toward terra cotta? Look at BM Audubon Russet for instance. Lots of people have been happy with that color. Remember it will read darker in a dark room. And one coat may look orange. So you have to commit to at least two coats. And a good primer is important. There is good advice on primers on the Paint forum.

Hee, hee, Funky! Isn't it funny how things work? I have a blog post in the works about this artist* (not that he'd call himself that) . . .but this is a neat way to use gray-- on the trim. How's your trim? Is it something you want to accent? I know the decor is not your taste; only including it because of the color scheme. Whatever you pick, it's going to look great. I love the combo of gray and orange (your floor tone), like this rug on ebay: You must feel relieved to be coming closer to figuring out what works. It definitely takes time-- and so much energy-- to repaint. Good for you for going for it, and not living with what feels wrong. Can't wait for more pics! *Furlow Gatewood
