What a precious nursery! I know you all must be so excited. Babies are such blessings.

So cool! My favorites are the abacus, the funky white metal table, and the curtains. It will be so nice for your DD to have such beautiful space for all those late nights rocking / changing / nursing etc :-)

OMG--I don't even know why I opened this thread (no babies on the horizon in our family), but it was meant to be! I am friends with Jane aka rococogurl of Atticmag, and we were jsut emailing earlier today re: paint colors. One of the strong contenders for our FR walls is Frappe (we happened to have a sample jar, so I slapped a few swatches on the walls just for the heck of it, and really liked it!). So nice to see it in an actual room!

Thank you, Anele. They are higher than they look. Once he can stand, the mattress will be lowered even more. He wouldn't be able to reach until he's much older.

Duh--I did see those pics on Atticmag! We were no way even looking at paint colors at that point, so it didn't even register at the time.

The room is charming! I love the fabrics and the color palette.

I would only change one thing for myself. The orange lamp (which I love) would be in the way for me on the changing table, once one has wipes and other baby needs there, like the fresh diaper, the clothes or gown to be put on, etc. I would move the dresser to the right just a bit, tuck the chair to the right a bit, and put the orange lamp on the table next to the chair. Then I would wall-mount a lamp over the dresser, on the wall to the right of the abacus, with a cord cover to hide the cord and keep it from busy baby hands.

Absolutely charming nursery, do keep us posted on the happy event !

You're in for the best time... I have a 4 year old grandson and he's the joy of my life, and I just found out my daughter is going to have another baby!! They're just a special gift.

I kind of agree with Les, but what she could do is use the top drawer under the changing pad to keep diapers, creams, wet-one's, etc. in. You won't believe all the little things that will need to be right by the changing table. lol

I'm so excited for you! The love you'll feel will blow you away. I watch my two tomorrow, both in diapers, and as exhausted I'll be, it's a blast!

Les, knowing Allison, I bet they have that all figured out. I am thinking all the supplies will probably be housed in the drawers of the dresser, therefore she wouldn't need so much space on top. Allison has three grown children of her own, I'm sure she's thought of all things. LOL Of course, her daughter will have to see how things "feel" once she, and baby, are actually using the nursery. The lamp would probably look cute in either spot though. I personally do not like orange - but am loving her nursery! Of course, I loved her great room also.

The main reason space is needed right next to the changing pad is to have a place to put dirty diapers, clean clothes for changing, etc.

And I am sure Allison's daughter will have a diaper pail, but when you're in the process of cleaning a very dirty diaper there is no time to put the diaper in the pail before cleaning the baby. Especially when the baby starts moving around.

Plus, manytimes the baby will need a whole new outfit because of a dirty diaper. And a bath. That's when "speed is the key." lol

I agree, I'm sure Allison knows this but it's a good tip to pass onto her daughter, especially being a new mom.

Oh, they make THE cutest cloth baskets with pockets that organizes all those things to sit next to the changing table. They really come in handy!

Allison, do you and your daughter look at Pottery Barn Kids much? I love that place, but darn they stopped selling baby/kid's clothes!

The nursery is cute as a button (or should I say little boy). I want a grandbaby...I'm jealous. :(

Thank you for all the sweet comments! I've been gone all day, and they are nice to come home to.

To address a few things, the Diaper Genie is to the left of the dresser. You can see a bit of it in the 2nd picture. It will be easy enough to drop a dirty diaper in it, rather than put it in on the dresser.

She plans on using the top right drawer for often needed items and the next drawer down for extra diapers. The small wipe warmer (if she decides to use - gift) will take the place of the owl bank. She'll also have a small stack of diapers on top of the dresser.

The changing pad is pretty long, but it probably won't used but several months. Already has plenty of waterproof pads to place under baby so cover won't get dirty daily.

In my experience, once a baby is so big and squirmy the crib is a better place. While she is using the pad, there is room to put any needed clothing either on the dresser, above the baby on the pad itself or on top of the pulled out drawer.

DD2 was a nanny for a little boy for two years (age 6 months to 2.5 years) so she knows what all is involved. Can adjust as needed.

The dresser really can't be moved to the right more - doorway/entrance there with closet (end wall) to the left. Also, there is plenty of play space in the room - the glider/ottoman isn't out in the middle. If it was moved back any more, it would hit the wall when rocked. If you look at the 5th picture, there is plenty of room and then some when standing at the dresser (if that was the concern).

I stopped by an antique store today and found a cute wooden tray holder (smooth wood). Has two finger holes cute into the handle. The bottom of each side is curved, and feels like a really heavy paper of some sort. Cleaned it up with Lysol wipes, but will probably paint. DD2 can use on dresser or bathroom counter. Perfect to toss in tubes or pacifiers, etc.

Wow! That is a gorgeous room. I love how it is so 'ecletic' and not the usual traditional baby room. Congratulations.

Everything is so lovely EXCEPT for the glass in the picture frames over the baby's crib!
Maybe because we lived in CA for so many years but we were always very conscious of anything getting shaken or falling.

Emily, I can promise you they are not going anywhere. They've all been redone (by me) - new wires, hangers, etc. I questioned DD2 about it when she said she wanted the pictures over the crib.

The bed is now pulled out from the wall about a foot, so if something does fall, it falls between the wall and the crib.

imo, the abacus would be more tempting for a toddler to reach for - which I addressed farther up. Thank you for your concern.

When I was 19yo, I hung a huge antique mirror over my bed. Mom about had a cow. Said she was going to get "the call." lol

Glad to hear that I'm not the only 'questioning' grandma. Child and baby proofing is something we've all got a lot of experience with. You just know these smart little angels will always try to figure out some new way, to reach or grab whatever catches their eye!

Shades of Light has a blog called Inspired Spaces. The orange lamp was ordered there. They did a short piece on the nursery.

The day before, they did a piece on DD2's DR since it features their Loft Shade Chandelier.
