Not happy with the sign and will redo it--freehanded the lettering--big mistake! LOL

I'm pretty happy with him as long as I don't hold the pattern up next to him!

Well, he just turned out super cute! It looks just like the pattern to me so I don't know how it could be any better. How was painting the face. Was it as hard as I imagine it to be? I think your sign looks good with it too. Don't re-do it.
Where are you going to hang him? Has DGD seen him yet? I bet she's gonna like him. I'm glad you were brave enough to try him. I think I'm still too scared to try him, but I have one I may cut out tomorrow to work on. We'll see how the day goes. DH will be off, but I think he's going fishing with my dad so I'll still be able to paint. =)

Luvs....He is totally awesome! The sign is perfect so stop beating up on yourself! It all looks so whimsical and fun...lightens the heart.

I am so envious of you, I seem to be stuck doing the same old....while you tackle everything!

DD, thank you for your kind comment :-) To be honest, I am an Internet marketer and, one day, while enjoying the holiday season, I decided to focus my marketing on holidays. So, after having created my first holiday site (Christmas related) and then the second, third and fourth ones (Valentines, Easter and Halloween) and, following the "gurus" instructions, I created that blog in order to drive traffic to these sites. But one day, some times after Halloween 2007, I ended up in THIS forum and left the holiday marketer I was somewhere on the Web... So, from a promotion blog my blog became a real holidays related blog and not only dedicated to my site updates. I thus spend a lot of time reading the posts, clicking the links, visiting your blogs and the blogs you and all of our friends mention - even if I don't add a lot of comments, I read every post ;-) Well, I still work as an Internet marketer but I enjoy a thousand times more being here reading and watching your pictures than working my online businesses (history, weight loss and tarot cards reading) ;-))) Fortunately, I have my job at school to pay the bills, lol.

My table should be done soon. I'm just looking for the right flowers. Creek, Stop that right now! Honestly, I don't have a single thought that wasn't inspired (read: stolen) from somewhere else. (In fact, I give a link to the place where I saw a frog pond table before I did mine. ) Remember, the reason for this forum is to share ideas. It's very flattering if someone is able to come away with something they nice enough to use in their own creation. So, don't stress. Yes, everyone, you have to be patient to make a little colony of the dolls. But, you see, as a child, when I saw the ones my father made (for a Teacher's Tea, I think), I was memorized! Those little things came to life before my eyes and I've never forgotten it. So you see, for me, it was more than just making a few dolls for a tablescape. It took about a week of work to make all the leprechauns. I did a lot of whip stitching in front of the TV. Last year I bought all the materials, but waited too long before I got the energy to start and there wasn't enough time to do it right. So this year, armed with the material and the patterns I created last year, I went ahead with the idea. They're sort of sweet, don't you think? Jeanne, I love those ornaments. I have some too! The block that yours is sitting on has that "a la Luvs" feel to it.

olychick, the pourable fondant would work, but you would probably have to do more than one coat to cover brownies or the dark color would peek through the fondant. I don't shop at Walmart, but I did go there on purpose to buy pink candy melts for something I was doing. They are also available at craft places like Hobby Lobby and Michael's. If you use white chocolate it might be more difficult to pour, although you could then let it pool around the bottom to make more of a "brim" on your hat. I just don't like dealing with white chocolate, I've gotten white chocolate concrete more than once, somehow I don't have "the touch". Or maybe it's the patience I don't have, LOL. Really? I think the green food coloring would be fine, but I'd probably not try to melt the white chocolate in the microwave, I seem to have the most trouble doing that. Annie

Well, I stashed all my TS goodies so DH wouldn't freak out! I told him about them and what I spent on them. Two big multiple TS excursions so close together is probably NOT a good idea! LOL I will take some pics as I work on projects, will try to do some before and afters. I did "paint" yesterday too, but it was just with a spray paint can! LOL I'm getting my metal cake plate and tops ready to paint up pretty. One will be with roses, but thinking maybe the other one should be Christmas or something. Anj, since you "like" to paint walls, would you like to come paint mine????? I would love to paint and "refresh" them, but just dread taking everything off the walls and moving all the furniture. And I'm not very fast anymore, so would take me longer than it used to! LOL Punk, you have been so busy lately. Just one thing after the other. So great that you are close by and able to help your kids get their painting done. Hope your DH feels better soon. Can't wait to see your new Santas and all. So nice that your DH will cut things out for you like that. I keep looking at my books and finding patterns that I like, but can't decide what to paint them on. I still have one more wooden tray to do, and many metal trays. I also picked up a cute little wooden plate that holds a small glass dish. I know I have the perfect pattern to go on it--but am having to search through all my books and magazines to find it! I'm sure I'll run across it someday when I'm looking for something else! So funny how I find "new" patterns while looking through books I've had for years! I developed a "thing" for acorns this Fall and was seeing them in dishes, tablecloths, centerpieces, and just as accents.Well,yesterday I ran across a couple of patterns that had acorns on them in my books and I hadn't even paid much attention to them before! I'm going to keep those books out so maybe I can paint them on something before Fall/Christmas rolls around again! ;o) Guess that's proof that it pays to save your old books and mags, isn't it? LOL You know, I'll bet we are all going to get caught up with other stuff and end up painting and posting at the same time on here! LOL Well, I'd better get to cleaning. I did the kitchen top to bottom yesterday, so will move on to the bedroom/bathroom today I guess. I have mirror closet doors on one whole wall, so those always take me awhile to clean, mainly because I'm short and have to keep getting up and down on the step stool! I'm hoping everyone's weather will start to warm up a bit now. We took the dogs for a walk yesterday and I love seeing all the spring flowers starting to bloom. I love Spring, just that wonderful fresh smell in the air and all the pretty new leaves and flowers on everything. Have a good day. ;o) Luvs

Good morning! I feel so much better now that I have finally finished something! LOL

Anj, once I got the cheeks looking pretty good, the rest wasn't too bad. Hard to get the "expression" just right, seems just a little extra curve or thicker line changes it a bit. At least it seems that way to me. And I didn't have exactly the same shades of green that were on the pattern, so that made it a bit different. I just added the little sign because I thought it "needed" something--but it's bugging me because the t's are sort of up in the air too much. Think I'll sand it off and try to do one a bit neater. I know, I know, but I'm picky! ;o)

Belle, I think you do a good variety of things, each one is unique. I am not always able to create the look I want, and the little sign with this guy was just something I decided to add and had the scrap of wood available for it. I should have taken the time to create the words on the computer and trace them on. You know what they say "haste makes waste". LOL

Not sure what project is next, will have to check. I have found that I like to work on two projects at a time, so I don't have to walk away while waiting for parts of one to dry. If I walk away, it's harder to get back to it! That's why I worked on painting the little tray at the same time. Thanks for your sweet comments. Have a great day.

Well, I may give him a try next year. I downloaded the pattern to save. I like the greens you used....nice that we can trade out for what we have or like better, that's what makes each one unique. I think the sign looks good, didn't notice the t's at all, but if it's bugging you...sand away. I understand how that goes. ha I think we all have a little perfectionist streak running thru us when it comes to our painting. ha ;) ~Anj
