I am a very very newbie at this so I need some advice.

I checked with craig's list and found a women who wants to sell all of her stained glass supplies.

She took a class and bought all this stuff and then bought a horse so almost all of this stuff is new and never used.

Glastar Super 11 grinder ($210.00)what she pd

Should I buy? Would this be a good deal?

I forgot to say she was asking $900 but went down to $800 because I will have to travel about 1hr 45 minutes to pickup.

First off, thanks a lot everyone for your comments. I truly appreciate it. FruitNut is right, I know nothing about this market, I know zero about agriculture. Some more background info: I'm working directly with various Ministers in the government and the Mayors of some cities to help improve their economy. My role is to connect them to US investors in my network. Again, I know basically nothing so I'm just trying to do some initial research to familiarize myself with the market. But I was told that this is a competitive advantage of the country, the climate is ideal for apple growing. Supposedly, when Yugoslavia was still around there was a huge apple orchard in Macedonia that supplied all of Yugoslavia and most of Europe with apples. Once Yugoslavia fell, so did this orchard. The land is still there and I believe some of the machinery (not sure what yet). They are looking to restart this to improve the economy and provide some new jobs in the local area. I can work directly with their Ministry of Agriculture but from what I have heard from speaking to people, their agriculture industry is severely behind and unadvanced. It was recommended to bring in an expert from the outside to really evaluate and see what the possibilities are. There are already some apple farms where I can buy and resell apples but they don't grow apples the best way, they kind of just grow it with no real knowledge of best practices. I was doing some basic research and reading reports online and came across this site. I thought I'd ask for input on where to go to learn more and get some initial ideas on what to look out for, etc. I'm just trying to facilitate economic activity in the area and this was one of the things mentioned as a competitive advantage. roaches in pots

Being in Florida myself (first in Vero Beach, and now north of Panama City), I've had a lot of *BAD* experiences with roaches and my orchids, since I grow in a greenhouse too. Buy yourself some Indoor/Outdoor roach spray, and periodically load your pots up. Spray it right through the drainage holes in the bottom of the pots, and if you have large mounts or baskets, spray them too. It won't hurt the plants. Also spray around the perimeter on the floor regularly. Not only do roaches have a penchant for delicate root tips, but I think there's a toxin in their saliva that will even kill minis. I love all of God's creatures, except fire ants, moles....and ROACHES!!!! -Bruce

One of my neighbors purchased a house that had been vacant for 7 years, and the garden not tended for many more. What she found was: A large area of blackberry thicket, out of which was growing and blooming 2 very old Madame Caroline Testout roses. They had climbed up a nearby plum tree to get light, and were also growing over the fence and onto the next door neighbor's roof of their one story house. A mature apricot tree right in the middle of the back yard - it was twisted and very old, but still bloomed and bore fruit. LOTS of volunteer trees - plums, eugenie, privet, and eucalyptus, to name a few. Also some huge pine trees on the perimeter, which had been there for ages. My garden was not abandoned, but little had been done to it for 20 years when we moved into our house. It had at least 50 surviving roses - most of the survivors were teas, hybrid wichuranas, or other really old roses. A couple of the teas had gotten huge - maybe 15 feet wide, and 8-9 feet tall. There were 5 surviving hybrid teas, but they had dwindled, and did not bloom (except for Cl La France, as noted below). The old old roses had gotten bigger, and bloomed a huge amount. Thornless (thank heavens!) blackberry had taken over an area at the back of the property about 20 ft square, and there was another area where volunteer fig and plum trees had made a sort of forest. That's where Cl La France had climbed up the trees, and was blooming and disporting itself in the canopy. Old bulbs were still coming up in the Spring, all over the garden. Jackie

The cove base job is shoddy, obviously. The fit may have been OK when it was done; the adhesive may have been inadequate to hold the base in place. The caulking job also is unacceptable IMO. It is a simple job that can be done right 100% of the time. Call them with your concerns. They need to know that you are not satisfied with the work on the base and the caulk.

I don't know that it would be a GREAT deal, but it would be everything you'd need to get started.
If you've never done glass before, why not take a class first to make sure it's something you want to do before you invest a lot of money.

cutter's mate sells for 229, Glastar super starII sells for 87.96, I can't even find a Glaster model selling for more that 149.95

even Delphi who is usually most expensive puts the super II at 114.95. I don't think she actually paid that much anywhere and is lying about it based on the prices of other brands... she's looking for a sucker. Sheets of glass that size average 6 each, various pliers are 7-10, nippers are 20 ish...

She said nothing is over 5 years old. Do you think the patina's would be any good after so long?
I have been doing concrete stones for a while and have used glass on them. I also mosaiced a bowling ball but used the wrong glue and my glass came off after 2 years.
I have learned alot from everybody here from reading all your post.
Walk away or offer less?

I say RUN away! I came across the same kind of deal a few months back. I paid $200 and it was boxes and boxes and boxes of glass, a grinder, all the chemicals, 2 soldering irons, etc.

Why not offer her $250-if needed, tell her you did some research. Doesn't hurt to ask, you could wind up with a really good deal. Most people think what they have is more valuable than it is but will bargain with you if asked. She may decide that it's better to get something rather than have to store it. I'm sure that horse needs to eat...

I'd run too! Get online and buy it all new, for a much better price. You could probably even get a ring saw too,

Looking at my own very overstocked cupboards filled with never opened supplies that never clicked for me...I would take several classes/workshops to make sure stained glass is your true calling before laying down that high of investment. I only say this as you stated you were a newbie. If your locked solid in stained glass, buy on...!
