Is this Brushed Nickel or Satin Nickel?

I got this faucet and i'm trying to buy a 'matching' soap dispenser. I found one that comes in both brushed nickel and satin nickel.

This Kohler faucet's description is Vibrant Stainless.

I have Delta faucets in my house that are called brilliance stainless. They match my brushed nickel pulls and knobs perfectly. This looks about the same. My old PricePfister faucet was satin nickel and it was "whiter" metal than the others. I would go with brushed nickel to match this faucet.

Why not just get a kohler soap dispenser in Vibrant Stainless. Then it's a sure thing.

We (almost) have to as I live on a small island in the Caribbean where I found today, only one on island company that will order, ship and install and the quote today for my frameless glass shower door - 12" fixed panel, 36" door (total 48" wide) and 72" high was $3400 plus installation !!!! The company I think I am ordering from is Hovoson and I think I found it here on this forum but as I have not ordered ye,t I have no idea if they are good or not but it's a start. Price Pfister Brushed Nickel & Satin Nickel

I was just told by a man at Lowe's that Price Pfister doesn't make Satin Nickel, but I just ordered 5 faucets off Ebay last week in that finish. Now I need to add Roman Tub & 3 handhelds to the list. Problem is, I need these quick, so I can't go the Ebay route, I have to use Lowe's. Can someone please let me know if what the Lowe's man said is true, and whether or not Satin Nickel and Brushed Nickel are really the same finish? Even though these are bath faucets, I'm posting here because I hoped someone might know the answer to this after purchasing a kitchen faucet. Thanks!

"...but the stores are a nightmare this week..." Oh, jaxo! I needed to be in a major department store poking around the housewares/linens section this week. The crowds weren't bad, but the really bad Christmas music almost drove me to distraction! Most of it seemed to be the quality of "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." Personally, I prefer fixtures & hardware be in the same color "family". For example, brushed/sating nickel (very little, if any, difference) in the "silver" family -- pewter, iron, etc. Brass with "yellows". I have both brushed & satin nickel fixtures and door hardware in my kitchen (along with antique iron cabinet hardware) and you cannot tell the difference b/w the brushed and satin. In some cases, I think it's just the name a particular manufacturer uses. There is no yellow in any of my nickel hardware or fixtures.

The Kohler one cost $60, that's a bit pricey for me for a soap dispenser. And I found others that are a lot cheaper and look better...

It isn't 'Nickel' at all. It is 'Stainless Steel'. I know b/c I was trying to figure out finishes too for the faucet, soap dispenser and cabinet hardware and found out Kohler is one of the only companies that makes a 'Stainless Steel' kitchen faucet b/c people with stainless steel sinks complained that the nickel looked too yellow in comparison to the sink. That being said, yes, stainless is a little more blue and perhaps colder than nickel, but hardly anyone can see the difference when comparing small items like a faucet, soap dispenser or hardware. As far as the soap dispenser, what you are comparing is the finish of either 'satin' or 'brushed' in the nickel material. It is a personal preference - I like brushed and think satin looks like a cheap spray-on finish but I know people who don't like the brushed finish and prefer satin. The satin might be closer to the faucet photo you linked to but I think either would be fine. HTH.

The one thing I'd like to mention to you is value for money in the realm of soap dispensers. I bought an inexpensive one for my second clean-up area for the same reason you're looking a a cheaper one. It is awful...it never holds its prime, so it has to be primed every time I want to use it. This has been true of another off brand one I used in our rental house. however, the fifty dollar one I used in the kitchen because it matches the faucet color is fabulous and works every time. I think you get what you pay for with soap dispensers, so pay for the matching one!
