Once again I have started another project before finishing the million I already have started!

We have a beautiful old house but the previous owners thought it was a good idea to update the lovely timber windows to the horrible modern metal ones. Well of course the man of the house will not allow me to spend money on changing the windows back to timber so I have come up with a solution to give me the look I want. I search for timber casement windows that fit on the inside of the existing metal ones. I put two next to each other in the centre and put sheer curtains on either side to create balance and of course privacy. And the best thing is that it looks great from inside and out.

Voile, it's the look I want for a total of $50, instead of spending 30 grand. I'm planning on doing the whole house.

What do you guys think? I've started gog on one, I'm going for the art deco look.

Oh I so hear ya! About home reno..I really like that look you are going for on the window and Like the angel and dangly thing too and of course the Poodle throw pillow!lol!

ThaT'S VERY PRETTY! So are the windows that you're adding all like an english muffle glass?

Oh man! LOVE em!!! My GOG mirror is a total write off!!! The silicone I used was some "other" stuff I had lying around and haven't used for a while, and it must of gone bad cuz it's not drying under the glass but has at the edges, I'm soooo mad! May try to pull it off tonight and if that don't work, it's trash and onto a diff one! Have been gardening and avoiding looking at it but your posting has me ready to have another look! Jane

Thank you for the nice complements! Lady, what I was trying to say is to check the size of the glass against the pattern piece before glueing it. I didn't once (I learn fast) and I had to grind the edges after to make it fit the frame. The 1/16' trowel is the trick! Anything smaller, there isn't enough contact, larger and you're cleaning out grout lines. And doing it all at once eleminates that skin! Vintage, questions are how we learn! I know I've asked some dumb ones. I apply the silicone with a trowel. The 2nd picture shows the back, you can see the trowel lines. I did them in a swirl to look like texture through the clear glass (which is purple). You can see this in the 1st picture. The lines don't show on opaque glass. Yes, you can use this for larger panels because you set the clear glass on over the stained glass. Very seldom do I get seepage. My grout is quite dry. And I don't RUB in it. It's like cooky dough. I hope this helps.

Your work is beautiful. Have a question for you. When you put the silicone on the glass, do you apply directly from the tube? The only way I could keep control was to put a glob of it on some paper and then use the fat end of a tooth-pick to put it on the glass.(For very small pieces.) Almost none of it ended up in the grout lines. There is an even easier method of putting the stained glass on contact paper first, silicone the base glass, and then transfer the stained glass. I find almost no mess with this menthod. And so much easier.

I am having second thoughts now, will more then likely go with painting white and grouting white, to stick to a more shabby theme. I was thinking electric when I was imagining pink paint! Thanks for all your suggestions. Yep I did paint the chair next to the drawers, its a love seat that I picked up on ebay for $150. I gave it the shabby treatment...whilst my hubby cringed! "Are you sure you wan to do that?", he asked a million times. hehe I used ceiling white then just used fine sand paper to give the look of old. Actually about 12 months ago I went on a painting spree, I painted all the funiture in the house!!! I will post some pics soon...... hehe Thanks for your interest in my work, if everyone can post pics of their latest project I promise to spend hours just looking at them!!!! I added some pics of my daughters room, don't know if I posted the butterfly mosaic in her window? Some grout didn't stick in some areas, so needs fixing. There's also a close up of the ungrouted drawers. Renee Oh PS. The knob in the centre of the bottom drawer is from a shop called Recollections, dont know if you have it where you are? Its a reproduction antique store. Cost me 4 bucks on sale.

Thanks for liking my stuff gals, Lucy is the queen of our house, sometimes we wake up on the edge of the bed whilst Lucy is spread out in the middle....and under the covers of course!!!

Beautiful!!!! Are you going to gog on all four panes? I like the design you came up with.
I'm a William Morris fan. Not exactly vintage, but that period of design really gets my heart pumping. And French Country. Yeah, I like French Country (or is that Country French??) too!

Wow that is way cool!!!!!! Love the glass your using..I know Im echoing what everyone else said huh!!!! That is so very creative of you!!! I have been wanting to do something in our windows in our bedroom and just didnt know what...hmmm maybe this is an idea for them!!!!

Great idea! I have a bedroom window, I don't want anyone looking in so I keep the blinds closed all the time, we live in a rural area, no one can REALLY see in, except the deer, I like deer and don't want them to scare them off by seeing me naked!!lol, Anyway, that's what I'm gonna do, thanks for the idea, yours looks great!!

That is really pretty!!! Like you I have several projects in the making. Nothing glued down but boxes of stash for them.I think it is the nature of the art. LOL

I just love the deco look of this!!
