Hazardous to my health

Being unemployed! In the last 6 mos, I've broken my leg, resprained my leg by DD leaving her shoes in the way, got the flu for 3 weeks, Yesterday was the topper, DD left shoes in the way again and I fell AGAIN, landed in a corner of the foyer, barely missing the mirror doors on closet, smashing my shoulder into the wall and tearing my chest muscles and knees, am on t3's and ibuprophen and am absolutly gimped up, can barely move my right arm today and am totally nausous when moving at all. I just want to KILL her!!! (before she kills me!lol) Yup, this unemployed thing is just too much fun....and me with such a nice new play room....

Oh Janie, this too will pass. She'll move out and you'll get well, and create a ton of gorgeous stuff. You should start to feel better in a couple of days, the first two are the worst. Go back to bed and dream of wonderful stuff. I'll call you later and see how you're doin,

I totally agree with your statement:"Wells Fargo took over Wachovia and things haven't been the same for me since. I really loved my bank." We've been customers of WF for more than 30 years and for the most part it has been a good and easy relationship. After WF took over Wachovia , I felt like I was treated like a criminal just by walking into a branch. There were a couple of people at the door asking how they could "HELP" me.I had to explain what I wanted to do in the bank. Lol, I wanted to deposite a couple of checks. Once I was in line, there was a camera trained on my face, and by the time I got to the tellers, they knew my name and called me by name. I had never been in that branch before. I think WF knows they bought a "bad bank" and did everything they could to protect themselves.

Jeanie, I love watching the tarantulas wandering around, and they are harmless. We used to see dozens and dozens every year but haven't seen nearly as many since the floods of 2007. If you ignore them, they'll ignore you. Black snakes aren't harmful, and are helpful in one sense because they eat rodents. So, you have a black snake either because you have rodents around the property that it wants to eat, or it is searching your property for rodents because it isn't finding many wherever it previously was hanging out. We used to have a lot of black snakes here, but the cats control the rodent population pretty well, so we don't see but a handful of them a year. We do kill them if they are in the chicken coops or even close to the chicken coops because they are a problem in there. The only snakes we're having any trouble with at this point is the water moccasins. They are migrating from the big ponds and from our creek because those water levels are dropping rapidly in this drought and are coming into our lily pond in the back yard. We usually ignore non-venomous water snakes in the lily pond, but we shoot the water moccasins. The walkway from our detached garage runs right alongside the lily pond and we don't tolerate venomous snakes that close to our walkway and house. The venomous snakes we see most often here in addition to the water moccasins are the timber rattler, western diamondback rattlesnake, pygmy rattler and copperhead. Since you're just a couple of counties away, those probably are the venomous snakes you're most likely to see too. We ignore all the non-venomous snakes as long as they stay away from the chicks, but we shoot any venomous snake in the yard, gardens, chicken coop area, or close to the garage, shed or house. The venomous snakes can roam freely around the rest of our acreage as long as they stay away from the area aroung the house where we roam. Dawn

Good morning! I too try to visualize people and it rarely, if ever, works out. it is nice to put faces to names. Shirley, still thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. i know that's your daughter, brittney and dawson -- who are the others (inquiring nosey minds want to know) and as for your mom, you never know what the next roommate may be, perhaps you can hold off on the move until you see what comes in LOL, however, I think I'd want to be with my own and her secrets kept!!!! annie your dogs are beautiful, as are you. my aunt and uncle, for as long as i can remember, were the first home for service dogs until they were ready to go into training. they had several different dogs from what i recall. sorry about your lizzie...i know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. my next dog is going to be a shepherd, but it's been decided that we will only have one dog at a time now, so I have to wait my turn. (we'll see) i made an anniversary cake for a group i belong to, it was our 7 year anniversary so i made this massive cake. i filled it with alternating layers of buttercream and lemon curd, and dang, if it was not tasty. I was able to take a slice home for the family to taste and seriously wish there had been more leftover, would have made a nice breakfast!!!! a real nice combination, even though it started out that i was going to use raspberry as well...i just couldn't get enough to cook them down to make a nice sauce/filling. it's still so cold and seems to be staying that way until at least next week, when it's supposed to go to the high 40's, with rain. by then, i'll think it's summer. this cold is bone chilling and of course, they are calling for more snow. we haven't got much of it, but.....this year it is bothering me like mad! i shouldn't complain, there are parts of the country that are in the negatives, so i'll just keep my mouth shut on this subject any further! so whose left to post their pic? come out. come out whereever you are! speaking of which, jeanne, how are those triplets of late? is mary ellen still a part of this group? i feel like i haven't seen her in a long time...maybe since she became a grandmom, or right before that? hae a nice thursday! maryanne

We are rather extreme about our food. We eat mostly organic, local farms when we can (which is pretty often, esp in summer), grass fed when we can. Our kids totally eschew fast food and when we eat out it is very very high quality and often farm-to-fork. I've always had a propensity to gain weight, as does one of my three children (10,11,13). As a result I am very strict about snack foods, sweet or salty. Plus frankly if you are going organic that cuts out a lot of the middle of the grocery strore anyway. All that said, I believe, and behavioral research supports this, that overeating can be a crime of convenience. You eat more when food is served family style on the table, with a serving bowl in front of you, then if you were given a portion on your plate and need to get up to get more. You eat more fruit if it is in a big pretty bowl on the table. If you were a store, you would market food by making it easy to see and get to. If you are at home, you can suppress eating by keeping food out of sight. My last home was a very formal older home and the kitchen was isolated. My current home is more casual and the kitchen is not open, but it is sort of a hub off of which many other rooms and hallways flow. At our lakehouse, we have a kitchen/great room. If the weather is such that we are not outside, we are usually in this room. I witness everyone snack and nosh more, because we are actually, in a sense, living in the kitchen. I have a comfy chair I like to read in, and it faces the pantry. Even though all i see is the cherry cabinet, I know what's in it! And I want it! (Come to think of it, I am moving that chair when we go up this weekend!). Anyway, we have been able to test the null hypothesis and in my family, at least, an open kitchen means more frequent snacks. We are in the process of buying a beachhouse and I can promise you it will have a closed kitchen! PS Marcolo --- how sweet of you to remember! I read the article in the NYT a few days ago and just rolled my eyes! I think it is so so true. BTW my DH loved "goy 'em up". : )

I'm so sorry to hear about your "calamities". Next year will be better, it has to be! Yes, the T3's are probably the source of your nausea...they make me soooh sick! Are you sure nothing is broken? Be very careful, and make DD put her shoes away!

I was nausiated just by getting up in the morning! Hadn't even had any painkillers yet! I think I have to let her know in a more concrete way, that her chosen lifestyle is not working/welcome here,and just lay down "The Law"
Law #1: Thou shalt not be too comfortable as to not want to get own place...soooon!!!

Oh no, I am so sorry. You didnt need that.
You know you should ask the Dr. to give you something for nausea, because you probably really need the painpills after a while.

Janey, so sorry. Well, Janey, when my children were young and they left stuff out, the natural consequence was to make it disappear. I say DDs shoes should be in the trash can by now.

POOR JANE!!!! That sucks! I think you should move into your new craft room, put that bed under your table, you have a tv, and a little sitting area, don't let anyone in there, just have them hand you your meals thru the door!hehehe! Hope you get better real soon! The ONLY shoes in your way should be the ones you are mosaicing!!

I'm so sorry about your injuries. I'd take DD's shoes and throw them out on the lawn and leave them there. Maybe she'll get the hint.

Oh Jane !!!!!! When it rains it pours !! ( have you tried Arnica? it's a herb, but it works great for sprains/bruises.. )
I must tell you that I have always had a soft spot for your name. A few years ago when I was working in a hospital. I walked into a new patients room. I tripped over the first patients shoes hit my head on a IV pump that was hanging over the new gals bed. Her eyes popped out, and without missing a beat I introduced myself as nurse Calamity Jane! Well, she turned purple with laughter, I almost had to send her to the ICU because I feared she'd go into respiratory distress!! I'm not kidding.. ( she was my favorite patient after that)
....anyhoo.. You are not alone in your calamities.. maybe you have them more frequently .... I have size 10 or 11 shoes.. I trip on everything .. ( cept I'm a weeble.....weebles wobble but they don't fall down.. do you remember that little ditty)

You know, A little ld lady came up to me awhile ago and said I should pick some Leapards Bane and wrap it around my leg for healing, and I thought, "ya right"! I'm going to the health food store and grab some ointment! I read about it as you suggested and it also says about healing emotionally, which I feel traumatized more from this fall than when I broke my leg!!! But it could be backlash??? I'm feeling better today, even tho I still can't use my right arm for weight bearing or lifting above my shoulder.But the chest pain isn't too bad. Sheesh, I'm only 44!!! I feel so decrepid!!!
