need advice, marriage falling apart!!

Hi, Im new to this forum, and Im desperately seeking advice from other stepmoms who may have been where I am today. My husband and I have been married a little over 2 years. We have an 11 month old daughter together. About six months into our marriage, his daughter from his previous marriage came to live with us. She was 4 years old at the time, She is now 5. Our marriage has just gone down hill since the day she came to live with us. He and I used to have the best relationship and both felt as if we had finally met our "soulmate", and now everything is just falling apart...and the sad thing is that the only thing we ever argue about is his 5 year old daughter. She is the root to all of our problems. Yes, I knew he had a daughter before I married him, but we only had her every other weekend, and that was bearable, but for me to become the fulltime care taker while he's off working 12 hour shifts, thats a whole different story. I had no idea that I would ever be in the position to be "raising" his daughter. When she first came to live with us, she was a nightmare. My husband and his ex had always allowed her to do whatever she wanted and allowed her to treat adults with disrespect. And her rediculous biological mother had convinced her that she was some sort of "princess" and that she was "cute, cute, cute", and every unacceptable behavior was acceptable because....she was cute, and was the princess. I have been somewhat successful in trying to rid her of her unacceptable behavior, but it seems that now she tries to do things just to spite me, and of course every time I get on to her about anything, like for instance if I were to tell her to clean up her bedroom, my husband would say "well, you havent cleaned our bedroom today, how can you tell her to clean her room, when our room is messy, he always jumps to her defense, and of course then we start arguing and he always winds up saying very hurtful things to me, which I think is what she wants--to feel like she is daddy is on her side---like they are a team against me. She has this attitude that she has to be the center of attention, that everything is all about her, and nothing I do for her is ever good engough, or meets her standards, and she is very unappreciative of everything. Im not interested in being in competition with a 5 year old, but that I feel thats how she view me---as her competetor. I am soooo tired of this, Im tired of him, and Im especially tired of her. Its exhausting. When she is off visiting with her mother, my husband and I are like 2 newlyweds, there is no fussing, no bickering, no tension, but the minute she walks in the door, it starts. Its a tense, unpleasant environment. Ive asked him to just let her go back to live with her mom, but he wont. He expects she and I to have the kind of mother daughter relationship that I have with my 11 month old, and he gets mad with me that we dont. Ive tried and tried with her, and she is just manipulative, deceptive, and conniving. I just dont know what to do to save our marriage??
