Copper sinks in Kitchen???

Ok...now you've got me hooked on the idea of copper kitchen sinks. How do you care for them? Do they scratch easily? We have some stainless appliances coming...will they clash with them? How can you remove any stains, such as water spots? What type of faucets...do they need to be oiled bronze?

I need some help here with some information!

We have lived with several copper sinks for some time now and with a monthly application of the wax we got from Copper Sinks Online - it is simply soap and water cleanup... It's that easy. And with the wax, we don't really see any water spots (kind of like waxing your car - the surface then tends to repel dirt, etc.).

With our sink, we went with an Oil Rubbed Bronze finish, but if you are going with a lighter finish, I understand Antique Copper coordinates well. When we bought our sink, the company had suggestions on their website as to what drain/faucet finish went well with each of their sink finishes. I also see that they have a 10% off deal if you buy your faucet and sink together - seems like a pretty good deal. We really like our Graff faucet that we bought with the sink and I can recommend the quality on both.

I have put a link to their buying guide which is worth a read as you look at your options. We bought from Copper Sinks Online at the suggestion of someone else on this forum and we were really happy with them. They seem to be the only company selling the thicker 14 gauge copper which makes a big difference - especially with a kitchen sink. ...but their prices are some of the most competitive out there...

Copper Sinks Online has two things I used to select our faucet: 1) photo gallery - go to their home page and there is a link below the main photo to their photo gallery. There are some great ideas in there. 2) copper patina/finish chart - When we bought our sink from them (we were really happy with both the company and their sink - and they have the thickest copper sinks out there for kitchen sinks), they have a place where you buy your drain right after selecting your sink. Drains and faucet manufacturers seem to have similar finish choices (i.e. Oil Rubbed Bronze, Antique Copper, etc.), so after we selected what matched the best, we went and bought an ORB faucet (matched their "Dark Smoke" the best) and got 10% off by buying the sink and faucet together. I would also take a look at the article they have called "copper 101" (or something like that) - it was the best buying guide I found when I did my research and saved me from a few potentially costly mistakes. Finally - if you still have questions - just call them. The customer service person that helped us was fantastic and really knowledgeable Good luck! I have an undermount copper sink in our laundry room. I had purchased one previously for the kitchen in our last home. It was to go in the kitchen of this home, but DH wanted the fireclay V&B. I would never want copper because I can't believe it is going hold the nice look. I think it will be streaked and be a mess to polish. You can ignore me also. I like low maintenance. LOL

I've had copper sinks for almost 10 years -with hard water. I haven't had a problem with staining and have never dried after each use. Never installed a softener either.
