Collected the first of my seeds from Italian Sweet Basil which I have had growing right next to the African Blue Basil. The African Blue does not produce seed, but it flowers and flowers. I watch the bees go back and forth between the Italian and the African, hoping the African produces viable pollen and I might have some crosses between the Italian and the African. Worst case scenario is I end up with a lot of italian basil. The African is prolific, frost hardy, perennial and propagates easier from cuttings than most basils - but the flavor is only mediocre. I have some Dark Purple Opal seedlings and cuttings from Thai Basil coming along I will also try to hybridize with the African Basil. Not sure how to emasculate basil... if I emasculate the Italian, Thai or Opal, then any seed should have African parentage?

Never heard from her after numerous email attempts to contact. She has not replied to any emails. Sent her 15 packages of seeds. Avoid trading with Dani/Ashley in North Carolina. I will update if I ever hear from her.

Those are prilled fertilizer capsules = slow or controlled release fertilizer. Not a concern at all and found in most nursery or greenhouse plant soil:-)) And if you have more questions about your houseplant, try posting in the Houseplants forum........this one is really focused on edible figs!

@3onthetree - I should have looked at the drawing closer before I posted my question! A few hours after posting, I looked a little closer - and realized that it was the T&G cedar boards for the ceiling. I meant to come back here to correct my initial post - but have been a little crazy the past few days. I have other notes/specs for the project - I just didn’t post them because I didn’t think anyone would want to read them. I do, however, have a few other Qs - so, I will post what was submitted to the city + add some photos later tonight. I truly appreciate any comments/advice you have after looking at the notes/photos (if you have time). Thanks! @Patricia Colwell - As I explaiined in my post, only a portion of the patio will be covered. The firepit is located on the other side of the patio + set away from the house. I should have added photos when I initially submitted my post - I will do so in a bit. @floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK - rigging up a tarp is a great idea. I’ll see what I can do!
