so how crazy is this??

Bio-mom and her DH actually did come over tonight to talk to DH and I about SD and her behavior there. It sounds like she is a real snot at times . . . and they actually admitted that they think they played a big part in creating the problem. Step dad said more than once "WOW - we really are the Disneyland parents!" They asked how we are able to keep her so level, respectful and accountable. They wanted to know how we were able to get her do chores and help around the house. They asked for our advice on how to have her show them respect. And I think they actually listened!! I know step dad did - he seemed genuinely appreciative of what we shared with them. I'm sure this has something to do with he and BM's recent fights regarding SD and talk of ending their 1.5 year marriage. They even made a statement that leads me to believe they may have gone on their own to see the counselor SD periodically visits. BM was a little more guarded, but that is to be expected - I can't imagine it's easy to ask your daughter's step mom for parenting advice, though she's done it several times before. I respect the fact that she asked for the meeting and actually followed through with it.

I don't know where things will go from here, or if things will change. We've had these meetings before with no long term change, but this is the first time they came asking for help and seemed to digest it. I think their eyes are starting to open. I have this undying wish that we will all learn to get along and co-parent effectively, and every time I think it's just about dead something like this happens to give me hope again. Part of me is afraid to hope, but the another part can't help but think maybe, just maybe, she's ready to admit he's made some mistakes and take steps to correct them.

Hey - a girls gotta dream, right?
