Gorgeous!!!! It is absolutely gorgeous!

Have you looked at Quincy tan, Benjamin Moore? I have it in my living room and am thinking of using it in my kitchen. It's a cool color, somehow it goes with everything. My friend used to be a designer in a furniture store, and they painted the walls quincy tan, and it looked great against every display possible. Although I'm not sure if it would clash with the camel color in your rug. Do you have a picture of your rug?

Another good one is crown point sand. it might go really nicely with what you've described. It's kind of a chameleon color in that it takes on whatever shade you put near it (to an extent). It looks really pretty with the jet mist.

How come you are changing the camel coat? I think it looks really beautiful!

And then my DH says. "Yeah, the paint color doesn't really go."

I piped in and said to both MEN. I like the camel
color. They were silent.

So, now I am second guessing myself. I still like the color. I am glad to get the opinion of another. Thanks.
I will try to get a photo of the rug.
It is mostly the same camel color with a black border
and some very creamy white, burgandy red and gray colors
in it.

What color should I restain the floors. This will be
done within the next month. I have gotten to figure something
out. I hope to go darker than the honey color it is.

I actually really like how the warm and cool tones play off each other. Maybe you could add some burgundy, caramel or warm tone brows to your kitchen as accessories, like utensil holders or pretty candles or something to tie it all together?

As far as floor stain, I really love dark stains, but we opted to go with natural finish through our whole house due to kids and dogs, on the recommendation of our floor guy, who is wonderful. We are also planning to do natural for the kitchen. But there was one I loved, I can't remember the name, but it was like a dark espresso color with a hint of red to it. English cherry, maybe? That might look really nice.

We have dogs and kids too. The Dark Espresso with

That is so BEAUTIFUL!!! It's perfect! It looks like soapstone! I love it. It was a great choice. No you have me thinking again about jet mist. :) Oh man it's pretty with the white. I love those little square tiles on the backsplash too.

not that you asked me BUT boxerpups we both have red sofas and white cabinets with a mostly black looking granite AND I HAVE BM Lenox Tan walls in my kitchen which look very close to your Camel color. Were we separated at birth?

I think Lenox Tan is a smidge, lighter and golder in tone at least looking at the photos.

Oh I almost forgot the Jet Mist looks gorgeous. I remember when you were deciding on which stone to pick. Great choice.

Wow, I can't believe that's granite! Is it honed?
I don't know how it would look with the rest of your house, but I think a grayish green paint would be gorgeous with your black and white kitchen.

Your kitchen is beautiful! I am about to make my final decision between honed Virginia (Jet) Mist and honed Absolute Black. I like the look of soapstone that VM gives, but want a true black. I was wondering, is it the pictures (the camera lighting) that makes your counters appear slightly grey? Or would you say that in the home/actual lighting that you have the effect of black counters. We are having cream shaker cabinets and thought the VM would be a nice contrast. I know that AB is true black, but like a little variation that the veining of the VM provides...

Also, I wanted to suggest a paint color that I think would really compliment your kitchen. It is a Benjamin Moore paint called Philadelphia Cream. I have had it in my home for around 8 years and have not once gotten tired of it. It looks like a warm buttery cream color and looks like a decorator picked it out.

Thanks for asking your question. Yes, my counters
are more grey than black. I have lots of lighting
from two story size windows pouring sunshine into
the kitchen. The light coming in adds to the grey color.
If you want black I would not go with Jet Mist.
My Jet Mist is a charcoal grey. If you get close
you can see the black flexs but the overall effect
is still a dark grey. I love it but if you want black
you might not.

Before you make a fast choice you might want to read
a few links here about honed Absolute Black.
You said you want a true black. I had thought about
Honed Absolute Black for my own kitchen until I read
up on it. I ended up chosing JM because of some
of these issues.

I read on GW that
........."Honed finished granite is problematic if not professional sealed. Granite is hard but the orthoclase minerals and the microscopic gaps between then can be somewhat porous. That issue is successfully avoided after it is professionally sealed. However, honed granites love to show smudges from wipe cleaning and thumb prints. Dark colors are worse than light ones....That being said, I do know the Virginia Black Granite very well. It is the same stone as Jet Mist. This was very popular granite for government building in the early 1900Âs. It might be the perfect color for those looking for a honed black that does not create the Âflat black maintenance issues..... "

"9. Honed Granite: If you are considering 'honed granite' be sure to discuss the higher maintenance issues with the fabricator. Honed granite should be professionally sealed. We strongly oppose the use of Black Absolute Honed Granite for kitchens. While we understand the contemporary design intent, you will have high maintenance issues to consider such as finger prints, continual dusting, and cooking oil marks that you can not remove. Even routine cleaning can discolor honed black granite."

Philly Cream!!!!
You will laugh when I tell you the rest of my house is
painted a color called a Baked scone by Behr.
Very similar to Philadelphia Cream. I agree with you
Philadelphia Cream is beautiful.

Buddyrose has convinced me that the Ralph Lauren Camel Coat
is going to look just fine. Right now, I am going to
try to get the rest of the kitchen finished and if the
color still bothers me, I will repaint. But, I love
Camel coat. Pictures do not do the room justice. Seeing
in person how well it looks with the area rug, living
room, curtains and furniture.
Right now it makes me smile.

My next huge task is to choose a new floor stain.
Where do I begin? Any ideas?
