I'm LOLing at you Jeanne. I never used glitter so never made a mess. ;o) But I read about the idea of putting it in salt shakers (gal had a collection of pretty, clear, vintage ones so she actually displayed her glitter in her craft room). I think I could manage it in a shaker like that. Tho I cringe at help from Jazz. LOL. He'd look like your kitty above, only in orange instead of pink! hugs, Karen

Wow! That is a hard request, don't think I've ever seen any loose ones in Michael's or Joannes Could you substitute red marbles that are swirled. I've seen fresh berries that must be hard & only grow along East Coast or something. Mass. folks decorate a lot at their Inns etc with real ones & they look good. Could you spray paint little shell macaroni red? That might look good otherwise you will have to use just an inch in each hurricane. The craft stores have the flat marbles that are sometimes red & iridescent. They are very pretty in vase so should be nice in hurricane, friend just put single rose in vase with lot of those & really shimmer. Jan

I tried the candle warmers that everyone is so crazy about, and I don't like them for the same reason you stated- for some reason the scent seems to burn off, no matter what brand it is, even one of my own, and you are left with a bunch of weak smelling wax. Whether "rebatching" the wax would work or not, I don't know. Since it will already have some oil in it, it may not hold much more fragrance. The wax would have to be completely melted and then the fragrance oil stirred into it quite well- just like making a candle from scratch. Then the candle would need to set up and cure for about a week. Feasibly, you could have a brand new candle or you could have a flop. You may want to consider using fragrance oils in water on the candle warmer. I know people that do that. It is essentially the same as an electric or tea-light fragrance diffuser. The people I know just put the water in something glass and heat resistant (like a coffee cup) and add some fragrance oil, and let it heat on the warmer. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Good point about the height! Sounds pretty, but that's a lot of work, not to mention the expense of the pots and paint. I came up with an idea, thanks to my newspaper. Our local family owned garden center is having a sale today on white pine roping - 25' for $8. They also have mini poinsettias for $4 each. I will cut 3' strips of the roping into a circle and put the poinsettias inside the ring. I'll add red glass ornaments that I found in my Christmas stash of this years unwanted, and fill in with magnolia, pinecones (I have some small unscented) and berry bunches (which I will be stealing from my Christmas tree). I can reuse the poinsettias for my guest table and give as departure gifts. The remainder of the white pine garland can be used as a swag for my dining room widow, where I plan to hang fresh wreaths closer to Christmas.
