I started the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Makeover and am looking for some other tasty/interesting recipes to go with this program.

I WAS SO EXCITED TO FIND THIS FORUM BUT I NOTICED THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY ENTRIES SINCE THE END OF 2001. I JUST READ ABOUT THIS DIET IN THE LATEST ISSUE OF FIRST MAGAZINE SO I FIGURE THERE WILL BE A NEW INTEREST. I WENT THRU THE CHECKLISTS AND MARKED ALL OF THE ROUND TYPE SECTION SO I KNOW I AM A NO. 1 - GRAINS 3 TIMES A DAY WITH THE USUAL 2 OZ. OF PROTEIN (PREFERABLY FISH). CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY OTHER DETAILS THAN THIS. I AM WAITING FOR THE BOOK TO COME IN AT THE LIBRARY BUT THAT COULD TAKE UP TO A MONTH. PLEASE SHARE - I KNOW THERE ARE NOT TO BE ANY DIET PRODUCTS BUT WHAT ELSE CAN I HAVE BESIDES 1/2 C.GRAIN(3X), 2 OZ. OF PROTEIN(6X), 1/2 C. OF FRUIT(3X) AND UNLIMITED VEGGIES. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE SOME RECIPES FOR THIS LEVEL TOO. I STARTED 2 DAYS AFTER EASTER AND HAVE LOST OVER 7 LBS. IN 3 DAYS!THANKS AND I HOPE I HEAR BACK. Vinyl may be the only way to go. If you have a turn table, it's easy enough and cheap enough to hook up to your computer. The cables can be found at most any electronics store. Then it's just a matter of using your recording software. That's what I've been thinking of doing. I have ~150 albums that aren't being used. And I do prefer the analog sound over the digital sound. Even though the recording bitrate is good, I still can tell the difference between cd's and albums. Albums to me, at least, provide a fuller and richer sound than a cd does. Though albums degrade faster, with the appropiate software, I can record the albums to my computer and then use software to remove any pops and/or whistles that the album may have incurred.

None do that I have read but then again not everyone is on the same page. The books that i have seen I feel are only guide lines and inspiration and not specific designs that I feel would work in the landscapes that I have worked on. Again just personal opinion here. It's like those that think a CADD program will make them a better designer when in fact in some cases it doesn't even make some a better draftsperson. You have it or you don't, I know it took me quite awhile to get that correct ornamental grass chair. Dang that search took more work then planting, cutting back, making the refreshment, plopping my butt down and watching the grass grow. Just gotta love those grasses. Jake

Moonshadow, I'm sorry my email is unlisted; it was that way before the change-over from Spike when all the data went loopy and now I can't change it back, although I've tried several times. (Full disclosure, years ago I was once "Sent to Disney" for, um, criticizing the management on a thread. Then I sneaked back on with a different user name and addy once I got over my sulks and found I couldn't do without THS. During the big change over my two accounts got confabulated and the result is I can't change anything on my profile.) On the happy side however, I do have a fresh copy of Califirnia Paints historical colors brochure along with the formula for Jackson Antique and its nearby colors. Perhaps we can think of some way to get a relay so you can send your snail addy to me somehow. Does anyone have a working THS email account? Perhaps both Moonshadow and I could each use you as a contact if you'd be willing to pass along our mutual email addys so we can get squared away. Thanks! Molly~

LOOKING for: Ginger Ale

Fermented? Not nece-celery! Ginger Ale (a good aid to the digestion) 7.5cm piece of ginger root, grated 600ml boiling water 1 tablespoon honey carbonated mineral water Add the ginger to the water and simmer for 20 minutes in a covered saucepan. Stir in the honey. Strain, cool and store in the fridge. To use, add carbonated mineral water to taste. And 2 recipes for Ginger Beer (I think both are non-alcoholic - I've only ever made the second recipe): Ginger Beer (1) 185g bruised ginger 3 litres water 2.5kg loaf sugar 125g honey 160ml lemon juice 17 litres water 2 teaspoons essence of lemon 1 egg Put ginger and 3 litres water into a very large saucepan and boil for 30 minutes. Add sugar, honey, lemon juice and 17 litres more water. Strain through a cloth and when it is cold, add essence of lemon and egg. Let stand for 3-4 days before bottling. Ginger Beer (2) To Make the Plant: juice of 2 lemons 8 sultanas 1 teaspoon lemon pulp 4 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons ground ginger 2 cups cold water Combine all ingredients in a jar and leave for 3-4 days (longer in cold weather) or until it begins to ferment. Each day for one week 'feed' the plant with 2 teaspoons ground ginger and 4 teaspoons sugar. At the end of the week if there is no bubbling on the surface, strain the mixture, repeat the lemon and sultana mixture and start again. To Make the Beer: Place 4 cups sugar and 4 cups boiling water in a bowl and add the juice of 4 lemons. Strain the contents of the ginger beer plant through a piece of muslin and mix with the lemon mixture. Add 28 cups cold water. Pour into sturdy, sterilised bottles and seal airtight with clip-on or screw tops, making sure to leave some room at the top. Leave for 2 weeks before drinking. To Keep the Plant Alive: After straining the plant through the muslin, divide it into halves and place each half in a jar with 2 cups cold water. Feed daily for one week with 2 teaspoons ground ginger and 4 teaspoons sugar.

Hi, everyone. I just purchased the program on ebay and it came yesterday. I am acclimating to how to live, because I am really determined to make this work. I already see that I am going to have difficulty with the very stringent rules on fat. I am used to the low-sodium because I was on the Rice Diet for several months years ago, but I really am worried about not being able to use low-cal salad dressing and a bit of fat to make things cook and be a bit tasty. I am trying to balance the good the diet will do against the fear of failure due to boring food. I just don't want to fail yet again! Cooking is a hobby, so I will have to adjust my thinking firmly on that. I am wondering if any of you on the program have gone "off the page" a bit, and if so, how it affected your progress. P.S. I found wonderful salt-free spice blends at www.penzeys.com. Check it out. I am also purchasing two cookbooks--one from the Heart Association and another for diabetics. Both indicated stringent low-fat, low-sugar, low-sodium, so I hope I can adapt the recipes. It looks like the key to this is PREPAREDNESS, and figuring out how to make it palatable.
