Yes you can use the wig holder. Just make a hole in the bottom of the styrofoam head for the top of the totem. You won't be able to save the head. Cut off the leg of a panty hose and pull over the head or wrap the head with gauze. This is just to give the hypertufa something to stick it. Lay the head down on a piece of plastic in a sand tub. Work on one side at a time and put on one thin layer. Cover the whole tub with plastic and let the head setup a little before starting on another section. Once you get one thin layer on all the way around; you can put a second thin layer on. You can do this over several days if you have to. I've also made a runny hypertufa mix and "dunked" the head. Kind of like dipping candles. The way the weather is now in Pennsy, you could work outside! Billie

I just saw a local "crafty" show, and they were dipping flowers into molten beeswax (plain or lightly tinted with candle coloring) to preserve them. Has anyone tried this? I can't find a good how-to on the web, just lots of sites selling already made-up bouquets.

Hi Brenda, Sorry, the directions was in the August newsletter. I e-mailed them to see if I can get old directions. I haven't heard from them. But I did make a copy of the directions. They are easy to make. I just melted some wax (they said to keep the temp. at 155-175) Add vanilla or Ivory color. I used crayons. Then add some scent. Then dip your candles into the wax then roll them in cinnamon do that 4-6 times or till you get the look you like. They are addicting to make. I got candles at the $ store and Big Lots. Big Lots had some that are called a ultilty candle. They are 6 1/2" tall. They are .59 for 5 of them. I just saw a bundle of 3 of these at a craft store yesterday for 7.99. They also talked about dipping ornies, hang tags, stuffed hearts and stars, cinnamon sticks, dried apples and oranges. They also say be careful not to burn yourself. Have fun making these, Cheri

You could use some of that eyelet fabric over the mirrors on the 2 center quadrants from top to bottom and let the far left and far right mirrors unveiled. They make something called ticky tack, that teachers use to hold posters and things on walls(no nails). I wonder if that wouldn't work on your favorite eyelet pattern?, and not damage the wood/fabric/mirrors? A friend took pieces of an old heirloom lace piece and did that in her miniature curio cabinet she inherited over the back mirror lined surface.. She now uses the cabinet to hold all of her essential oil(many mini bottles)collection. If you like the country style dishware, the eyelet in the tea color(or you can tea stain some yourself) might look very pretty inside the darkwood and contrast with your white dishes? And tone down the shiny of the mirror?
